Feathery Blue Primitives

bench paint makeovers, Krylon Coll Ocean Breeze, primitive furniture
I am adding feathers AND Cool Ocean Breeze to my small primitives.

I promise it works.

I painted three pieces with Krylon Cool Ocean Breeze.

Yes, you only see two.

I forgot to stick the gray bench in the photo.

Both the square bench and the wooden box after one coat.

The formerly gray now breezy blue bench.

I liked the way the paint soaked in with the first coat so I did not paint a second coat.

Here they are.

At this point I was torn over the choices of dark wax, stamping, sanding, or stenciling.

So they sat in the dining room for a week.

While browsing through Tuesday Morning, I found this delightful feathers stencil for $2.99!

These are large feathers and I was sure they would fit my benches.

Of course I was so wrong.

Four feathers were too large.

Single feathers around the square bench.

Three feathers on top of the short bench.

(This is a taupe-y gray color of FolkArt craft paint.)

Could not fit any of the feathers on the box.

Switched to number stencils.

The gray for the body of the number.

Used black with a fine liner brush to add shadow to each letter.

See the difference?

These three pieces fit in nicely with the other items being readied for the trip to Magnolia Ridge.

They will make great display pieces.

Plus they will be for sale.

These pieces will be at Magnolia Ridge.

See y'all!

Quickies - Spray Wax!?!

Quick makeovers, frame, Krylon Spray Wax Coating

 HAPPY EASTER!

Being a veteran of many Easter sunrise services - freezing beneath the choir robes, I thought I would bring you a sunrise frame.

I discovered spray wax a couple of weeks ago.

Krylon Wax Coating Chalky Finish in Dark Brown to be exact.

I bought this frame - large and with wonderful details.

The finish in deplorable shape.

Sprayed the whole frame including the linen inner part with Krylon Matte Sunrise which is not chalky finish spray.

Directions told me to spray a coat.

However next time I will not spray so much because ...

Next you have to wipe off the excess.

The wax settled nicely in all the crevices.

Wait thirty minutes before buffing.

I used blue work paper towels.

 A beautiful finish.

It worked well even though the base coat was not Krylon Chalky Finish paint.

Next I plan to use it on a bigger piece.

I receive NO compensation from any company.

This is just my opinion.

However, if you feel the need to take up a collection for my paint supply addiction, please feel welcomed!

This frame will be at Magnolia Ridge.

See y'all!

Friday Finds

thrift stores, vintage finds, old books
Bits and pieces along with some furniture.

Love these pedestals.

The one in front has damage so I am thinking I will further distress them.

The wood is not as nice as it looks.

A large white mixing bowl.

The quilt is not really old, but is soft and has a lovely fabric.

The brush in the gray basket was sitting just like this at the thrift store.

Who could resist the composition?

I have been waiting for half-price day in hopes no one wanted the white rack.

SCORE!

It folds.

Needs nothing.

Two baskets.

Need paint.

A copper planter.

Needs something.

Great graphics on the box.

The back is all in Chinese.

And inside a hand-painted kite with all the pieces.

 It says Journal.

BUT ...

It is really a ledger!

I was quite taken by the windmill plate (JAPAN).

BUT ...

I chipped the back edge.

GRRRRR!

The white ironstone bowl has a pale lavender design - no markings.

The blue sponge ware crock is Roseville.

I did not decorate for Easter.

I did buy a bunny cake mold.

A yellow tin tole  bowl.

A black cage.

Bought another box of books.

A couple of textbooks.

Laugh Day by Bennett Cerf.

A humorist I was taken with in my youth.

A textbook from the 50's with illustrations ready for framing.

I will scan - not tear the pages out.

A big book about steam.

Great charts and graphs.

Gas Tables

Filled with - what else - gas tables.

Another scanner.

Since I am going to set up at the farm sale, I need some farm books.

1927, 1931, 1933 Yearbook of Agriculture.

Great graphs, tables and old photographs.

Yes, scanning before selling.

A few of these items will be at Magnolia Ridge.

See y'all!
