Quickies

Take a plain tin box. 

Take two buckets.

Paint with Americana Decor Chalky Finish in Escape - a lovely blue.

Let sit around for several weeks.

(Maybe a month or two.)

Drag out the numbers and letters stamps.

I thought a bunch of mixed nuts would look great in this box.

Did not have mixed nuts so added the pine cones.

The number has no significance.

However, Chucks (always helpful AFTER I finish a project!) suggested using a numeric code for "NUTS".

Wish I had thought of that!

This bucket has no handle so really it is a planter.

The secret code here is K8420.

Can you figure it out?

Little NO. 5  is surrounded by pumpkins and pine cones.

Reminds me of a bright blue autumn sky.

Three zinc pots painted last year with the Farragoz method.

I have been using them, but they are off to the booth.

Obviously I had to name them "1", "2", and "3" so they would stay together.

OOOO--EEEEK!!!

A scary floating dresser ghost!

No, just lazy.

The only pic I took of the before was the dresser on its side in the truck.

Just rotated it. 

Previously in the ghastly brown antiquing from the seventies.

I had big plans for it.

Some really spectacular.

Then it rained, rained, rained, rained, ...


So it was spray painted with Rust-Oleum Satin Granite.

Three light coats so it would dry faster.

Stuck a tag on it and off it went to the booth.

No image.

No stencil.

No stamp.

No decoupage.

 

Just a plain dresser.





Chucks is over my shoulder as I type saying I am so mean to say there is a numeric code on the bucket.

There isn't.

Escaping Cherubs

There were cherubs escaping everywhere the day this cabinet was painted.

Started with a 1960's cabinet.

In great shape, but tres passe!

Great hiding places for all your junk.


This space was not too dark so no painting here.

 Sanded the gloss off.

Used Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint in "Escape".

A tropical blue.

Mod Podged this delightful image from The Graphics Fairy.

Yes, that one crooked one did disturb me until the cabinet  was finished and it was not noticeable.

Two cherubs gossiping on a branch.

Sea shell shaped.

They are probably planning their escape.




Dreaming of a tropical isle.

Mixed up Farragoz gesso with powdered gold pigment.

Coated the whole thing.

Heavily with several coats on the edges.

Then sanded the heck out of it with both a hand sander and a sanding sponge.

Added two additional coats of Mod Podge over the cherubs.

Then three coats of wax.

Clear MinWax.

Loving the results!

Even Chucks commented on how pretty it turned out.

Quickies

It is Sunday morning.

Let's have some quickies!

I was busy all Saturday working to complete projects.

Let's see a few of them.

Remember these two baskets from Friday Finds?

They both were sprayed Navajo White.

Yes, the brass basket came out much darker.

I distressed it with sandpaper.

I am loving this look and will be on the lookout for more hammered metal things.

No distressing needed to make this one pretty.

With my fake hydrangeas.

I started on these two silver items back in November.

Yes, November!








 

I went as far as painting them Heirloom White.

Then it was time to decorate for Christmas so they went to live in a box under the craft room table right next to Scout's bed.

He did not mind.

Some heavy sanding revealed peeks of the silver.

I like to use these for odds and ends instead of food.

The cut work trays are useful all over the house. 

Again used heavy sanding to reveal the engraved design in the center.

All four items will be at Riverfront Antique Mall in Booth W-10.

Sissie of Sissie's Shabby Cottage asked me if I had any vintage flat hangers.

I did. I did.

I had a stack of them painted with the Farragoz method in a delicate pink.



She bought some of them, and I decided to stamp on the others.

Stamped "PARIS" on the front.

Stamped a Paris address on the back.

Tied a pink ribbon around the hook.

So pretty paired with an eyelet Jeanne D'Arc Living tunic I bought at  sissiecakes.
