Nesting In Pink

Sweet Pea Pink bookshelf, furniture painting, image transfer, The Graphics Fairy
WARNING:  This post has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas.

It is just another painting-in-pink post.

Sweet Pea Pink.

And a waxed paper transfer of a nest.

And some wire.

Remember this ugly duckling from several weeks (maybe months!) ago?

Everyone had passed by the wobbly bookshelf.

She needed exactly three screws, and she was right as rain.

Needed a good cleaning and sanding, too.

Since she is one of those utilitarian pieces, I thought I would dress her up a bit.

I used some of my hoarded Sweet Pea Pink on her.

Grabbed my favorite nest image from The Graphics Fairy.

Printed it out on waxed paper and transferred it to the top shelf.

Sealed it with a matte spray.

Gave the whole bookshelf a good spray of a clear varnish.

I used hardware cloth (which is actually wire) for the back.

And there she is - nesting in pink.

Not a thing to do with Christmas.

Unless you would like her as a present.

She is waiting for you at Riverfront Antique Mall - Booth W-10.

See y'all!

Friday Finds

thrift shopping, Christmas items
A few finds picked up along the way back and forth to Riverfront Antique Mall to restore order in the new booth.

A herd of gold wire reindeer.

Perfect for small LED votives.

A rocking Irish sheep.

I must admit I kept this to add to my herd of sheep.

SSSSHHHH!

I love these sets of wooden ornaments.

I dropped the box and the mouse lost an ear.

Why would I buy yet another incomplete set of well-used silver?

The pattern looks just like a Christmas tree.

Don't know why I was attracted to this blue plastic vanity box - probably from the sixties, but I think maybe I had one.

Abercrombie & Fitch back when they really meant something special.

Brown velvet riding helmet.

I can see Elizabeth Taylor as National Velvet wearing this.

What a sweet bow in the back.

In a trunk I found this shoe kit from the South Gate Motor Hotel on Shirley Highway in Arlington, Virginia.

And two shoe horns.

Two PBN's of snow-covered barns.

I have seen these on several blogs.

Must have been a favorite of PBN painters.

I always received four PBN's on Christmas from Santa.

I knew this was the right desk for my gonna-be studio/office in the new booth.

I bought it and paid the thrift shop to hold it until I moved in.

It fits perfectly.

It is heavy-duty.

And, yes, it certainly needs a cleaning!

See y'all!

Dreaming Of A White...

distressed painting, plate rack
PLATE RACK!?!

Yes, I was dreaming of a white plate rack that was wa-a-a-a-y past being finished.

You may remember this poor soul from last February.  It was a rescue from  The Saddest Thrift Tossing.

It had extensive water damage to the back.

After sitting in the sun for weeks with weights on the back, it still refused to straighten itself out.

Surgery was required.

The back was successfully removed.

I gave it several coats of my gloopy paint mixture in off-white.

Then stuck it in a corner for months.

Finally I pulled it out, sanded it down, and gave it a coat of MinWax Mission Oak.

I drove it over to the antique mall, put it in a cart, and promptly sold it before it arrived at the booth.

Thanks, K!

She will be dreaming of her white plate rack all season long!

See y'all!

Party Every Monday Night

Wrap It Up

making vintage wrapping paper, 100 Proof Press stamps
I am one of those people who believe the wrapping is more important than the gift.

I want tiny presents all wrapped individually.

I want them to look vintage.

I don't really care what the gift is as long as the wrapping is imaginative.

This is what I have selected for this Christmas.

I bought a roll of masking paper in green from the paint section of Lowe's.

I have rolls in brown and red also.

My favorite stamp is this Old World Santa from 100 Proof Press - the place to go for unique stamps with a vintage vibe.

Even if you are not a stamper, you will want to visit 100 Proof Press to see their images. You can find them HERE!

A flash mob of Santa's!

For the ornament exchange this year, I tied each package with jute baker's twine in natural and red from Hobby Lobby.

Added a cute knee hugger and some bottle brush trees.

Vicky of  Life on Willie Mae Lane hosted her second annual ornament exchange.  See what everyone received!

Some gifts ready for a friend in a small green basket.

Do I have Christmas all wrapped up?

No, I have yet to even put up decorations.

I will get to them when I get to them or just won't get to them.

But I will guarantee each person's gift will be wrapped imaginatively.

I was inspired to create my own paper by Melissa at Shabby Love Blog last year when she carved her own stamps to make wrapping paper to sell in her booth. Read that post HERE.

Remember to come back tonight to join Tamara (Etcetorize) and I for Make It Monday - it starts each Sunday night at 7PM Eastern.  I chose the features this week so they will show up on my blog.

See y'all!
