Rushing Around West Columbia

Saturday a week ago I was lucky enough to meet up with Rush in Columbia for a day of junkin'.




In no special order, here are the treasures I found Rush-ing around West Columbia, South Carolina. 

One huge atlas with great color maps.

Found at His House.

 A brass urn.

A silver plated teapot and a cream pitcher found at Goodwill.

At Habitat we found a bunch of numbers - mostly sixes (or nines) .

The eights went to live with Fonda - her favorite number.

Assorted old books found here and there.

A white hamper basket.

Adorable needlepoint.

A girl and her puppy off to school with an apple for her teacher.

Two hymnals and a reading book.

Rush to the rescue

I spied these from across the thrift store but could not get around the customers.

Fonda blocked them from the books so I could arrive with a cart to scoop up all the Hardy Boys books.

From the 1960's.

Just one lone Nancy Drew.

Another His House find - old romance books.

The dust jackets have a wonderful vintage look.

A metal plant stand bought at Habitat.

This sweet bench in great shape (but horrid paint job) was found hidden at His House.

She is getting a makeover.

Soon.

So Rush and I went to the No. 1 Flea Market, His House, Habitat, lunch at Applebee's (thanks, Fonda!) and finally to Goodwill before I returned her to her hotel.

I hope she will visit again.

Junkin' with me is an Olympic sport.

And Fonda deserves a gold medal!

Mad Dash Through Madison

Yesterday was about the haul from Linda's downsizing. (HERE)

Today it is all about the junkin' we did after loading my truck down.

Yes, there was still room for vintage treasures.

The Goodwill store is very fair on the prices and has nice merchandise most of the time.

The vintage white wicker chair was going to fit into the Blazer - no matter how high I had to stack.

After GW Linda and I stopped by The Madison Flea, a large antique mall with some great dealers.

Spindles and baskets.

This painting and the next one were steals.

A lot of paint loss but the distressed look appeals to me.

Applying multiple layers of fixative to stop the flaking.

Then I thought back years ago when I bought a painting like this.

I discovered another painting underneath the flaking paint.

HMMM, should I ...

I love this one!!!

Now hanging in the breakfast room.











 

I rescued the slightly misshapen spaniel from GW.

Found another Winnie-the-Pooh book for my collection.

Flash cards.

Two large trophy-shaped urns.

An old refrigerator jar being used for dog treats.


It was definitely a mad dash through Madison.

If you ever have traveled I-20 between Augusta and Atlanta, you know it can be a total parking lot at times.

I avoided the traffic and construction zones going west to Madison except for a fifteen-mile section of one lane.

However the east lanes were dead still for miles.

I dreaded the trip home.

Lucky for me all the construction workers had knocked off for the day and it was a breeze flying back down I-20 to Aiken.

Looking forward to another trip to Madison.

Linda's Downsizing, My Downfall

Linda from A La Carte sends me these tantalizing emails filled with photos of items she is downsizing.

With great prices!

We plan a fun place to meet to have a wonderful lunch and some vintage shopping.

We chose Madison, Georgia for our last Fun Day.

Some I kept and some things I have in my booth.

The plant tables I used until all my summer pots of plants dried up. Then off to to another person to use.

The bookshelf was not part of the stash but used to display all the goodies.

Lovely pottery shoes and a Roseville dog dish among other things.

Some of you may remember when insurance policies were  fancy certificates presented to you in metal boxes like this one.

A box of china balls with numbers and letters. 

These look great in glass-top canning jars with metal bales.




More pottery - aqua apple dishes, and fiesta tea cups, a set of rooster creamers.

A bread basket.

A close up of the adorable donkey figurines.






 

Look at the shape of the juice pitcher complete with the six glasses.

Old patterns are good sellers in the booth.

I had the front pattern when I used to sew and made several dresses.

Salt cellars and a martini pitcher.

More creamers.

I had to keep a couple of these.

The darling tweed case was mine from the start.

Planned to paint the rolling pins but someone put dibs on them.

Fruit squeezer is a nice heavy duty one.

Linda knows I have a huge soft spot for baby shoes.

Used these in a large glass vase until they left for another home.




 

1950's bar set.

Plan to paint the cutting board.

Royal Copley pottery bird bowls.

One pink and one blue.

No one seems to want these.

I think it is neat there is a pair of them.

Maybe they will become a Christmas present. 

The green glassware looks rather fetching in the booth with orange pumpkins.

Two tea pots.

Especially love the tomato red Universal one. 

Milk glass goblets will be filled with small bottle brush trees.

A set of yellow Luray serving pieces - two platters and a bowl.

And last but not least, a whole set of Poppytrail California Strawberry.

There is only one saucer missing. 

In excellent condition.

No scratches - no stains.

Bowls for cereal, serving, soups, etc.

Serving dishes. 

Tea pot with creamer and sugar.

Dinner plates, cups and saucers.

Covered tureen.

Gravy boat.

I have this displayed in my booth with groups marked separately with the option to buy the entire set.

Many lookers but no offers yet.

Linda and I unloaded her SUV and loaded my SUV with all the items.

We did such a great job, I still had space to buy more!

Vintage Market Days - Ladson, South Carolina

On Friday I drove down to Ladson, South Carolina, for the first Vintage Market Days in this area. 

 



The dealers filled both a small and a large exhibition hall surrounded by outside dealers, food trucks, and live music.

Beautiful weather - sunny, but very windy.

The first booth as you walked in was filled with goodies.

I am sorry I cannot tell you her name.

She had left her cards at home.












 

This plush velvet sofa sold quickly.

One of my favorite booths was The Dove Cote Brocante.

Jewelry, furniture, and delightful images galore.

Mohair animals of all sorts.

While in this booth I heard my name being called and spied a friendly face.

Sissie of Sissie's Shabby Cottage - it was so nice to finally meet in person.

Sissie knew I could be found where the doll heads hung out!

Her sister was kind enough to take a photo.













Phyllis, my sister-in-law,  drove down from Atlanta. 

We shopped for several more hours.

This is where I learned a lesson about these big shows.

If you see something you want, grab it!

A large space filled with furniture and architectural salvage. 

The booth stayed packed.

A great idea for old drink crates who have lost their luster.











 

This was my favorite booth.

Pancake Hill - Ingrid can be found on Instagram under Pancake Hill.

I did buy several items from here.

I really desired and lusted after the green table.

Kept circling around until -GASP! - it had sold.

I also loved the cubby cabinet, but not sure if it would fit.

I did enjoy the show.

There will be one in North Augusta right up the road from Riverfront Antique Mall in May.

I have my tickets already!
