Silver And Gold

Bottle brush trees. gold metallic paint, Christmas trees
It is time for another bottle brush tree post.

I have an entire forest of tiny trees waiting to be completed.

Silver and gold - such traditional colors for Christmas.

I am still working on the huge box of trees I bought at the thrift store.

They are the stiff ones - some were probably expensive when new.

They do not bleach well or at all.

For this group I used a shiny metallic gold.

Wear a glove - you have to hold them as you spray paint.

I had a sterling silver bead necklace which had tarnished.

I strung the beads on silver beading wire.

Ten beads to a strand for these medium-sized trees.

Of course I did not count the beads to see if there were enough!

So the last tree has both silver and pearl beads.

You know, there is always one in every bunch that has to be different.

Now as you were reading this post, were you singing the Silver and Gold song?

Well, here's Burl Ives as Sam the Snowman singing.

Silver and Gold

Remember to return tonight (Sunday, 7PM Eastern) right here or over at Tamara's (Etcetorize) for Make It Monday.  It's beginning to look a whole lot like Christmas!  I picked the features from last week so they will be on my blog.

See y'all!

  1. Donna, I like the pearl and silver beaded tree best. Think you have bought up all the brush trees. Haven't seen any anywhere except your blog. Hugs, Linda@Wetcreek Blog

  2. Love your trees. I finally bleached some and decorated them, took them to my booth and forgot to get a picture! Going to try and get more made.
    Have fun!

  3. You know I love your beaded, painted brush trees! When you said the stiff ones didn't bleach well reminded me of bleaching pinecones. I still get lots of comments from people who have tried bleaching pinecones - and can't. And it's annoying as in unbelievable that they can be bleached. Do you get the same response with not being able to bleach some bottle brush trees?

  9. Yes, I'm singing and I love these little trees. My favorite part of the song is the squirrels, of course.

  11. I think they are great, Donna. Love the gold, love the pearls. But even a gold with all pearls would be pretty. I don't think you can go wrong!

  12. I always enjoy seeing what you have done with your bottlebrush trees. Love these in silver and gold. I am wanting to find an old toy truck to put one in the back for Christmas. I've yet to find one I like though. It's fun to hunt for one though and some day I will find it! Have a blessed week my friend!
