Friday Finds

thrift shopping, vintage finds, Egyptian Lacquer crate
After a delicious Thanksgiving dinner, Olivia came home with us, and on Friday we hit the thrifts for treasures for us, Christmas gifts for others, and things for customers to buy.

Cannot reveal the gifts, but here are a few I plan to sell  ...

Maybe the batter bowl.

I find these very practical.

Notice in the photo the small one holding pieces of cloth used for backgrounds.

A vintage souvenir from Florida marked ARROW on the back.

I am sure this cherub plaque will look lovely distressed white.

Don't you?

Not marked but appears to be McCoy or one of those vintage potteries.

Has the 39 in a circle price on the bottom.

This will be going on Etsy.

Remember if you see something you like, I will reserve a listing for you.

Six heart tarts or molds.

I am a wimp when it comes to using these in a craft project.

So I will take them to the booth.

And I do not want to know what happens to them!

I might be the only person who likes the look of embossed aluminum items.

A set of four floral coasters.

A flock of duck coasters.

I think the coasters are headed to Etsy.

My find for the day is this Egyptian Lacquer crate.

Great patina.

Wonderful graphics.

It might stay for a short time in case I need it for decorating.

Unless you might like it!

See y'all!

Mad for Madison

Madison, Georgia, vintage finds, junkin', Olive Out
I am mad for Madison, Georgia, and all points in between.

Last Wednesday Olive from Olive Out (no blogging right now - catch her on Instagram - OliveOut) and I flew up I-20 in the old coffin carrier to go junkin'.

Any trip is fun with Olive, but especially a road trip.

A fan blade - a quickie project in the works.

A battered fire bucket.

A tray of mismatched baby shoes.

Old photo of a boy with glasses.

A gigantic floral frog.

A big bag o'buttons.

An old post card album - no post cards.

But ...

A cute kitty painted as if jumping right through the cover.

Did you streak in college?

I won't tell!

Inquiring minds want to know.

Dr. Zhivago - Omar Sharif, his handsome self.

He died in July.

Print of an old pencil sketch - have a thing about dogs!

A tangle mess of an Italian tole chandelier.

I am hoping there is some beauty left in the old gal.

Silver, brass, and glass.

Quite the combo.

Rotate the lid one way to find your tongs.

Rotate the opposite way to find your ice in a milk glass container.

Funny thing - I have never seen an ice bucket quite like this.

I found TWO!

The first one was missing the device to open it so I reluctantly passed it by.

Then found this one in good condition.

American tole VS
Italian tole?

Which would you pick?

It took Olive and I several tries to figure out this is a table base.

No, really, it is.

Also, Italian.

Gathering things for a booth display - it's beginning to look like a plaid Christmas.

Blue and black plaid suitcase (in the shadows).

Fake cedar in a copper pot.

Two vintage tin Christmas trays.

A plaid horse tray.

Even the racket press is MacGregor.

I did not mean to skip fall.

A photo holder to display post cards.

A fruit tray.

A Sterling China tea pot (now in Etsy shop).

The rusty graniteware pot - perfect for a fall arrangement.

Three star molds.

Wisemen?

Pair of matching Berkeley Sterling cream pitchers. (In Etsy).

Vintage biscuit tin.  (Etsy)

Cobalt bottles.

Sitting around doing nuttin'.

Wine chiller.

Two star wands.

Six fake old keys.

More silverplate - most have made it to Booth C-23 and more will be going.

Another Gideon Bible rescued.

It was a perfect day.

We left Madison after lunch at Perk Avenue where Olive had some concoction called Cin-n-tell - espresso, cinnamon, and other various ingredients topped with whipped cream.

It smelled delicious, but I don't do coffee.

Headed back down the interstate to stop in Mimi T's in Warrenton where Olive is opening a new booth called Olive Out.

Don't worry - you can still find her at The Broome Closet in Ridge Spring.

Then ended the day at Uncle Junk's in Thomson.

See y'all!

Friday, Er, Wednesday Finds

vintage finds, thrift shops, new old stock
It is a necessity this week to sneak in an extra "Finds" post.

Yes, it does mean I have been buying truckloads.

But my customers deserve it.

I found this sweet trio at three different thrifts, but felt they belonged together.

I have them on Etsy.

I think the trio would be precious in a baby girl's nursery.

A Speas Vinegar U-Sav-It pitcher with a Presto zinc and milk glass top.

Lovely shape.

Going to the booth unless someone shouts out they want it on Etsy.

You can do that you know.

 _
As a young teacher I depended on these Hayes bulletin board books to help me with ideas.

There weren't pre-made bulletin board materials.

Everything had to be cut from construction paper.  We were required to have a new one up every few weeks.

The bulletin board had to be pertinent to the subjects being covered as well as being neat and decorative.

These are from the early sixties.

I bought both of these tiny letter scales.

The green one had a rate sheet for the amount of postage needed.

Yes. the scale is upside down.

You hold the solid round disk and clip the letter with the alligator clip.

There is always a place for a wicker/rattan shelf.

I had planned on painting it, but it cleaned up rather nicely.

I paid really real money for the gorgeous old vanity tray.

The mirror is aged with dark spots and has a cut glass edge.

The cast metal is dark silver in color.

I having fun using it until it sells on Etsy.

The label reads "We make in Denmark Pictures For Children All Over The World" by the Sandgaard Company.

These will be listed on Etsy.

A Haeger planter and an Italian candle holder.

A lovely round tin with a cloisonne look.

Two vintage clamps.

A red train case.

A wire basket.

A wicker basket divided into triangles.

A driftwood tree.

A cotton blanket for the dogs napping on the sofa.

And finally six unopened JC Penney Percale full sheets.

Called new old stock.

Three pink.

Two white.

And one yellow.

Will be available at Riverfront Antique Mall this week.

I am off junking again today.

And all the clowns come out to play.  A Christmas gift from Niece Leia.

Yes, there were nightmares.

But I WILL get her back!

See y'all!
