Until today I had not attempted a subway art project though I have fooled around with sketches for pieces of furniture. Nothing seemed to really inspire me. In frustration I tossed my sketchbook on top of a book stack I was working with.
The light bulb lit up above my head. Just do a small one!
Subway Art meet Book Stack!
It was very easy. I took two sheets of 12 X 12 scrapbook paper in a tone-on-tone brown. Taped them together with brown duct tape. Grabbed a Reader's Digest book from the stack.
I covered the book in the old standard method you used for your textbooks back in school.
It is nifty that the duct tape mimics the spine of the book.
Let the subway art commence.
Now as I was busy folding and covering the book I thought of a hundred books I have read and enjoyed. When it came time to write them down, they flew right out of my head.
I used a black and a bronze Sharpie.
As you read down my list, you will see two things: I have a very eclectic reading list and I do not always spell correctly.
It is, however, just the touch I needed to top the stack of books.
Here is the finished one all dressed up and ready to be the first of the stack. I liked the look so much I am planning to do the whole stack. I also decided since the bindings stand out, I will take a paint pen and write my favorite authors on the spines.
I might try printing out a sheet to use as the cover.
I might have to do a spring one.
I might have to go now and finish the projects I was doing before this one got in the way!
