Little Dresser - Grain-Sacked!

Okay, okay, I keep referring to this dresser as having THREE drawers.

I finally noticed after reading comments and emails, there are FOUR drawers.




These dressers are great for beside the bed, by your sofa, blah, blah, blah - you've heard me extol the virtues of these cuties many times before.

Like the brown dresser yesterday, once I sanded it, I decided not to paint it.

Even though all the back of the house furniture and household possessions are in the den and living room, I still found a space to Mod Podge.

Offset to allow for the handle.

Remember to get those lines straight.

Followed by two coats of satin craft varnish.

Hope to find yet another small dresser.

The top drawer has a neat organizer built in. 

It can be found at Riverfront Antique Mall in Booth W-10. 

It needs a home.

French Label Dresser

Time out from the renovations to show off two paint projects involving small dressers.

The first is this brown one with three drawers.

And a French label.







One of you recommended this Etsy shop to find lovely clean and crisp images. 

Go over to Graphic Marketplace (HERE) to find images that are quickly downloaded after payment is received.

I sanded the dresser to paint, but then decided I liked it brown.

Found the perfect image to download and print.

Used Mod Podge to adhere it to the drawers.

The trick to the paper sticking in the milled groove design is to put the Mod Podge on the surface of the wood and not the paper.

I place the paper in the grooves first checking constantly to keep the image level.

Also I let it sit for at least 24 hours before adding a top layer of Mod Podge.

I used a larger image on the top.

Followed with two coats of satin craft varnish.

I offset the images on the drawers so the handle would not completely cover the image.

It quickly sold.

Which made me happy!

Santa Tags

So you have finished dying your bottle brush trees and there is still dye left in the bowl. 




I am not one to waste anything so I always have cloth or shipping tags at hand to soak up the rest of the dye.

I buy the tags by the thousand.

Pre-strung.

I leave the strings on when dying, but may replace them with ribbon later. 

I put a handful into the dye making sure they do not stick together.

Stir.

Using a metal spoon or paint stick crease the tags for a more distressed look.

I place them outside on screens to dry.

Watch out for the drips if you choose to dry inside.

The dye is permanent on most surfaces.

It takes several hours for them to dry.

This is Apple Green Rit Dye.

 Aqua Blue.

Petal Pink.

I used Old World Santa images to make the tags.

Mod Podge the images to the tags.

Added a layer of Mod Podge over the entire tag.

Painted a gold edge.

Left the back plain for Christmas messages of cheer.

Floral & Shabby Curio Cabinet

Both kitty and pumpkin approved.

This floral and shabby corner curio cabinet.

She was a tired old thing.

After being scrubbed and lightly sanded, she took a short nap.

Rust-Oleum in Heirloom White.

Just a light coat - front and back.

Then heavily sanded.

Mod Podged this faded floral calico paper on each shelf.

Dry-brushed a Sea Mist green (Folk Art) here, there, and everywhere. 

Several coats of satin varnish.

Miss Floral and Shabby looked very pretty, but no room for her here.

So off to Booth C-23 she went.

I wish I had bought more of this paper.

It has been hidden in a stack of junk. 

I know it has been years since I bought it.


 
Is it illegal to scan and print?

Probably.

SSSHHH!!!  Don't tell!

Perfect for displaying your tiny pumpkins.

Definitely pumpkin-approved!







I looked back to find a project using the floral paper - had to go all the way back to August, 2012 - Priscilla, Plant Princess.

Gosh, my blog was awful back then!

Quickies

A project completed while competing with the rhythm gymnasts at the Olympics.



Only one mistake in my routine - I dropped a loaded brush of Mod Podge.

No deductions - it cleaned right up. 

A gold medal project finished in less than 30 minutes counting drying time.

Started with this wooden crate.

19" X 8" X 7"

Top and part of the side missing in action.

On the back the part of the label said to open on this side - looks like whoever opened the crate did NOT follow directions well.

I could make out the crate was for a mixer of some sort.

Not much left of the label which was badly peeling.












 

Painted the front with Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint in Escape.

Used the Farmer's Market stencil from Old Sign Stencils by Funky Junk Interiors .

I highlighted Farmer's in orange.

Several attempts to save the label all failed. 

Used Mod Podge over the whole crate to save what paper was left.

Great crate for fall foliage, pine cones, or pumpkins.

It will be waiting for you in Booth W-10.
