Friday Finds

Last Saturday I was invited to the Belvedere Women's Club First Vintage Market.

Olive Out and Joe Out invited me to come early.

She had already started me a stack.

My pile.

I took the whole load directly to the booth, tagged everything I wasn't keeping.

And headed homeward.

Sorta.

These two were made for each other and are sitting on the front porch.

The trellis has had a makeover.

The crates tagged.

Bought two ladders but one sold as I was bringing it in.

This little cutie is still available.

Sometimes being bottomless can be a good thing.

Like this distressed bird cage.

I passed this sweet pink chair by two years ago and dreamt of it ever since.

First Olive was selling it and then not.

This time when she decided to sell it, I snatched it up.

Olive included the ticking pillow and the hooked chair pad.






While arranging the items in the two booths, I turned the corner of the aisle to spy these two beauties.

Copper rain spouts from an old building.

Going in the new kitchen as shelves.

Stopped by SPCA Thrift Store to find a 50% off sale going on.

Bought this ghostly dresser for Chuck.

No, it's not floating - it was upside down in the truck.

An old military dresser - for the quartermaster. (Stamped on the back.)

Except for dirt, this white Samsonite train case is in great condition.

A pair of badminton rackets in a double press.

A Bessie Pease Guzmann print.

On Tuesday I dropped back by the thrift store to find another 50% off sale.

A tin chicken with an egg cart. 

English tea tin.

Carved wood Santos figure - keeper.

This sweet dresser.

She does not stay out there.

Just use her for photo background.

Big frame with a photo of a house.

I have no idea where I bought it.

My neighbor had a sale.

I bought this beautiful mirror to sell.












And this tall white one.

Keeper - for the new kitchen.

We are still boxing up stuff to move out.

We have about two more weeks to get the areas being renovated cleared.

I am trying to restrain myself from buying stuff ahead of time, but cannot resist.

Going, Going, Gone!

Another Saturday night at the auction.

Antique Uniques Auction  (FB page HERE) is fast, fun and friendly.


 
In order to get my hands on the blue felt Scottie with the 1939 calendar from Dominica, the vintage milk caps, and the sweater clip ...

I had to buy these.

Don't you love the tiny metal sculpture of the man on the toilet?

Large red doll trunk.

Brown porcelain door knob/lock set.

Dog nutcracker. 

(Our dogs crack their own nuts - they are especially fond of the pecans and hickory nuts in the backyard - yes, I know they are NOT supposed to eat nuts.) 

A silverplate ice bucket - I named it Beth for a friend who likes ice buckets.

Guess what?  She came in Tuesday and bought it!

In order to get my hands on the crate, I had to buy all the bottles.

Not a bad deal - they are mostly from bottling plants decades gone.

Casters!!!

Lots of casters!!! 

Remember last auction I bought porcelain and iron casters? (READ HERE)

Well, I bought more.

More casters!!!

The ones pointing left are wood and metal.

The ones pointing right are all metal.

Ridiculous you say?

NO, just MORE casters!!!

Odd assortment of different types.




I had to buy the whole tin to get my hands on the giant one.

(I would have bought them all anyway.)

The auctioneer looked at me and said, "She wants them if nobody else does."

Casters - these from a mechanic's creeper.

Never thought about collecting these.

A Pepsi crate - made in February, 1972.

Yes, most crates are dated.

I do love the jars!

Another Pepsi crate.

This one is in rough shape and needs a thorough cleaning. I hope to find the date legible.

I had to buy the vintage enamelware urinal to get my hands on the Olympic Thermos picnic jug.



The jug is so clean, I could fill it with ice water and use it right away. 

The urinal - not so much.

A Navy duffel bag.

A child's spade.

A large shovel head - the handle is toast.

My two favorite finds.

A large galvanized funnel with a red stripe.

A large grain bin drawer.

Y'all do a great job entertaining us on a Saturday night.

Estate Sale #1

Estate Sale #1 was advertised as a living estate sale. 

Held by a couple who moved all their antique store merchandise here from Missouri.

Then they decided to sell it all.

And they were serious about getting rid of everything.

Two Coca-Cola crates.

That rusty something - looks like a fireplace fender.

Wreath.

Metal Pepsi bottle carrier.

The display shelf was created from an old sewing machine cabinet. 

It is the base where the machine locks in.

Idea for Melissa of Melissa's Antiques.

A tin of small billiard balls.

A large rusty tin.

A tool caddy.

Two baskets - one signed by the maker.

When I expressed interest in a Thermos, they insisted on unpacking as many as they could round up.

I ended up with nine.

The blues and gold - both Thermos and Aladdin.




 

The reds.

The dark red and silver one is an Icy/Hot made by Thermos.

Fall's coming - bring out the apples.

A beautiful pottery one.

A cheerful wooden one which opens up.

Walking up from the street, this caught my eye.

A leftover piece of a folding table.

Great patina.

A large luggage rack.

Two balcony posts from an old house.

Most of these items are now in my booths at Riverfront Antique Mall.

More but no time to photograph it all.

As I drove away, the two were still flagging me down with more merchandise.

The funny thing was I did not plan to go to this sale at all.

It was off the route I had planned for the day.

I only went because it started at 7AM - an hour before any of the others.

Serendipitous!
