I promised and here it is - the trove of treasure I bought from Linda at A La Carte.

The thrill of the hunt is sometimes surpassed by the thrill of someone shopping for you.



Linda is purging her collections and asked if I would be interested in them.

For several weeks she would send pics for me to choose.

Of course if you read her blog, you know it would not be Linda without a piece of pink McCoy pottery.

A pair of black glass creamers.

The blue sugar and creamer with the black rims are darling.

Then there are the cobalt blue cousins. 

Dinner service for six with a sugar and a creamer to match.

Three creamers of various sizes.

A small bud vase.

A pair of S&P's.

Two serving plates and a small bowl.

Amber glass candy dish with the lid intact.

Two green sherbets.

A large family of kitchen tools.

My favorite is the aqua pot strainer.

Or it might be the tiny measuring scoop in the middle.

A whole clan of creamers.

Chicken S&P's.

Leaf dishes - probably bridge ash trays.

Bulova clock radio twins - fraternal, not identical.

Probably born mid-1960's.

Yes, they work.

I was able to pick up three AM stations clearly.

Both do have snooze buttons.

There was another box of assorted trays and other items.

When bloggers meet, you know there will be presents.

Linda's gift to me was so special it brought tears to my eyes.


She gave me several photographs of her paternal grandmother. (She had duplicates.)

So from baby ...

To young girl ....

To beauty queen of Ottumwa, Iowa ...

To a young woman with beautifully marcelled hair,

I present Miss Emmagene Sinclair.

Friday Finds

Or running with scissors!

I bought some more scissors to add to my collection.

I like the look of them hanging from hooks on the wall.

Then promptly decided I did not need to hang on to them any longer.

Then promptly tagged and took them to the booth.





Two small cricket boxes.

Two gold plastic decor prints.

Not staying that way.

I am stealing an idea from Diana of  Adirondack Girl @ Heart.

A set of copper canisters.

A resin gold decorative piece.

It will be going to Etsy.

In fact I have a list of things to add to my Etsy shop this weekend.

Two monogram bowls - one for Amanda and one for Emily - Etsy.

I am thinking either baby gifts or bridesmaids gifts.

The cruddy thing in the middle is the bottom of a chick waterer.

A rustic red basket.

A glass ice bucket with a metal handle.

Two baby booties planters.

One rather cute angel.

A pair of rather frightening yo-yo dolls.

And that is all I bought in the thrift stores this past week.

YAY for me!!!

However two huge boxes arrived from Decor Steals, my guilty pleasure.

I thought the planter would look great for Christmas.

However as I was imaging just how LARGE they were, I missed by a country mile.

This one was supposed to slide under the jelly cupboard holding the TV.

Ain't gonna happen.

And this one was to sit on the full size trunk you can see behind it.

Ain't gonna happen.

Chucks questioned my sanity at buying these two. 

I assured him I had a plan.

And I will let him know just as soon as I think of one.

Also in the mail a sweet gift package from Diana from whom I will be stealing ideas.

I am so glad I received the library cards, tags and sweet angel before she found out about my thieving ways.

From Tina - SQUIRREL!

One night back in August there was a silly gabfest on FB where there may have been alcohol involved on one or more parts, and the topic of squirrels came up.

We all know how Suzan (Simply Vintageous) feels about squirrels.  Tina (What We Keep) quickly found a cute image of a squirrel in a scarf and beret.  Names like Sammie and Samuel were thrown about.




Then Suzan pronounced him Samuel De Champlain. (Though she claims no memory of this event at all!)

I fell in love with the cute Canadian instantly.

I knew Tina had wicked Wonder Woman skills at embroidery.

I wanted her to make me a bag for my front door with the squirrel and his name.

Like those reindeer bags you find at Decor-something.

Now at this point in a post about receiving something in the mail from a fellow blogger, I would normally show off how beautifully the package was wrapped.

BUT ...

Chucks, the dogs, and I were crowded around the sofa to unveil what was inside.  I was carefully pulling apart the tissue when Chucks yelled "CORN!!!" and grabbed the box from my hands.

Packing went everywhere.

I am highly allergic to corn.

However this was a dried ear so no harm was done to me, but the beautiful wrapping was now a mess.


A wonderful note.

An iron handle perfect for hanging Samuel.

The jute upholstery strips - perfect for a Christmas ornament.

Tina, I am so sorry but when Chucks was saving me from the corn, he tore apart the arrangement.

(BOO-HOO)

Look, look, look!

A wonderful grain sack bag with a Samuel De Champlain transferred to the front.

Exactly my favorite color of blue.

Isn't he adorable?

I was dancing about the house taking him to find a home.

I was in love.

BUT ...

Chucks yelled (again), "Hey, there is something in the bottom of the box."

GASP!

A larger Samuel De Champlain.

On natural linen with a grain sack stripe.

And fringe.

And he was embroidered!

Those of you who follow Tina know she severely cut her thumb and has not been able to embroider so I was not expecting this beauty.








Oh, gosh, TWO Canadians in my life.

Luckily there are places to hang squirrels around here because I would never be able to choose between them.

Tina added a wire ornament with a leaf and a "W" to the top. 

Notice how beautifully she distressed the fabric.

Blogging friends are the best friends.
