Crates And Caddies Of Mustard

Painting tool caddies and crates
I will be honest and confess I am continuing to dump old projects off the camera and pretend they are new.

Live with it!

Expecting to see those beautiful white French mustard pots, were you?

If I ever find some super-cheap ones, I will proudly show them off.

This post is all about the mustard paint.

And the tool caddies.

And the crates.

I started with Alex's and Matthew's tool caddies.

No, I do not know who they are.  I did not steal two little boys' tool caddies.

Plus two stenciled crates in both the country bunny and silly geese designs.

I am a recovered country stencil painter and have in the past been guilty of procreating both bunnies and geese.

HAH!  Nothing a heavy duty sanding won't solve.

Clearly better even before the paint.

I did not have an exact mustard shade in my extensive tiny pots of paint collection.

However I did have three to mix together.

The shade was still a little sunny for me.

So I wiped it down with ...

Let's all say it together ...

MinWax Mission Oak Poly!

Yes, after pic is left and before is right.

Tied red plaid flannel ribbons on each.

Now had I posted this before Christmas, I would have suggested filling each with fat lighter for a cozy fire.

Stick a heart on them and they can be Valentine gifts.

See y'all!

Big Blue Bag Of Bargains

Painting for storage
I am cleaning out the camera of projects completed but never posted.

Okay, the lazy blogger's way to get through the week.

Just imagine they are fresh and new!

Remember the tacky Bahamas tote?

I picked out the embroidered words, but left the flowers.

Sprayed the entire outside of the tote with blue.

At this point I usually dry brush on an accent color and stick a plastic bag inside for a trash can.

However ...

I needed it to work as storage at the booth.

So I stuck in a bunch of bundles of fabric remnants.

Thus a big blue bargain bag of bundles.

Look for it - many a steal hiding inside!

Monday we took Scout for another blood test and exam.  A slight improvement in the red blood cell count though it is still not even in the lowest range of normal.  He returns Friday for a complete blood test to count both the red and the white blood cells.  He has also eaten some normal food.

Thanks to everyone who offered support for him.  Chucks and I appreciate it.

See y'all!

Make It Monday #17

Welcome to the Last
Make It Monday

Distressed Donna Down Home, link party, features

We want to see your creative projects, delicious recipes, furniture transformations, and thrifty finds.

You can still link up your regular posts but let's see what else you've got
that you want people to remember. Link as many posts as you want.

A message from my co-host Tamara from Etcetorize
Blogging everyday for over 5 years is a very hard habit to break, but the time has come for me to devote some of my time to other interests.  I hope to still post from time to time, when I have something to share but otherwise things will slow down here at Etcetorize.
This means that this will be the last Make it Monday party.  I've loved having you stop by to share all of your creativity and I've been so lucky to have such a great co-host in Donna.  The party was short lived but we were both so thrilled with the turn-out every week.  It was so much more than either of us ever expected.
So, we decided to go out with a bang.  This week want you to link up anything you want at all.  If you had time to post something new this past week you can link that up, but if you were like me and spent most of your time with your family and enjoying the holiday you can link up your all time favourite post.
Donna and I will still try to get to as many as we can to comment and she has graciously offered to pick some features for next week over on Distressed Donna Down Home.
Thank you everyone for partying with us!  It's been fun~

Framed Chicken Wire and Vintage Christmas Ornaments

Cecilia from My Thrift Store Addiction created accidental fudge truffles.

Audrey from Timeless Treasures finally trimmed her tree and you will not believe what a tree it is!

Tania from Little Vintage Cottage shared her holiday front porch.  Love the rabbit Santa.

I will be posting the features on my Facebook page (HERE) and my Make It Monday Pinterest board (HERE).

Of Puppies, Plumbing, And Peace On Earth

Pet illness, plumbing problems, Peace
OF PUPPIES

Willie has been totally confused by recent events around our home.

Of course, Willie is always a bit confused.

Chucks and I are very attached to our two dogs and two cats.

Willie and Scout are known as the Puppy Boys in our family.

It was supposed to be a normal semi-annual exam and rabies vaccination for Scout.

He was a bit sluggish after the visit.

He rapidly went down hill with a high fever.

No racing about the house, no king-of-the-sofa game with Willie, and no taco puppy playing.

No eating either.  Then started a daily visit at the vet to check his blood cell counts.

The vaccination has thrown a hidden auto-immune disease into high gear - killing off blood cells as fast as his little body can make them.

He has had a tiny improvement, and he is eating McDonald cheeseburgers (Vet's orders!)

He has quite a regimen of meds including a chemo pill which is supposed to trick his immune system.

It will be a long six months to recovery.

We are hoping and praying for the best.

OF PLUMBING

In the last three weeks we have had a hot water heater element burn out and then fixed.

The upstairs tub drain poured water into the down bath and foyer - partially fixed and patched for now.

An unused supply line underneath the house blew off its cap on Christmas Eve. Chucks cut the water off at the street - no water for Christmas Day which was okay since we had to stay home and take Scout to the vet.

$156 for a visit with a $3 charge for the new cap and it is fixed.

Who knew the day after Christmas is considered to be a holiday in plumbing world!?!

OF PEACE ON EARTH

There have been no pet alerts today (Saturday) and no plumbing disasters.

Just a pleasant lunch and a wee bit of shopping with two friends. Thanks, Julia and Patty!

And a chance to delight in my favorite Christmas gift - three Baby Jesus's, a Mary, and a Joseph. Thanks, Phyllis and Wayne!

Remember to return tonight (Sunday) for Make It Monday at 7PM Eastern.  The end of 2014 is near so bring over your new posts and your favorite blasts from the past to share.  I will be showing the features from last week.

See y'all!

OK, now for some Christmas fun.  You've all been doing a great job of linking up your current Christmas posts all month long,
but this week you have permission to link up
your favourite post(s) from Christmas past

You can still link up your regular posts but let's see what else you've got
that you want people to remember.

Party Every Monday Night

Framed!

picture framed Christmas tree, vintage ornaments
Why, son of a nutcracker!

I've been framed!

What to do when you have a living room filled with stacks of frames waiting to be made over?

What to do when there is one very naked Christmas tree sitting in the middle of said living room?

What to do when guests are going to arrive before you even begin to decorate?

Well, frame the tree, of course!

I ditched all the traditional white and pastel ornaments and hundreds of white lights for a simple, but pleasing tree.

DO NOT TELL CHUCKS I BOUGHT FOUR BOXES OF VINTAGE SHINY BRITES WITH CHRISTMAS CHICKS JERRELL AND JEAN.

They made me do it.

I picked out a selection of frames to use - white and gold ones of different shapes and sizes.

Strung on eight hundred lights - half of what is usually on the tree.

I dragged out every single box of Shiny Brites and their off-brand cousins - about 20 dozen and went to work.

These pics were taken during the late afternoon when the sun catches the gold of the frames.

Pale green tulle was used to tie the frames.

Plus the extra left on the roll was stuffed in between the ornaments.

Miss Lizzie finally donned some clothes - my Great Aunt Clarice's summer garden party gown and her mother's crocheted purse.

Unfortunately Miss Lizzie is several sizes bigger than the gown, but you cannot tell from the front of the tree.

The larger frames are artfully placed with Miss Lizzie behind the tree.

Don't tell me I can't hide my junk.

My favorite balls framed.

I did sneak a few glass balls from the eighties into the mix.

Framed - And I am loving it!

Remember to bring your holiday posts or other creations over tonight for Make It Monday. Sunday, 7PM Eastern time. Tamara (Etcetorize) will be choosing the features.

See y'all!

* It is the shortest day of the year - go crazy - get nekkid and dance in the yard! Or frame your balls!
