A Clean Slate Kind Of Guy

Another of the sixties era storage tables.

This one dated October, 1969.

I have lost count of how many I have painted.

They are all male.

This one is a clean slate kind of guy.

He was in the traditional ugly, ugly brown.

Until he stood next to Mr. White Diamonds (here) while I was spraying white all over the place.

He was hit by the dreaded overspray.

No worries.

He had to be sanded anyway.

The one thing above of other things I despise about these tables is the deep, dark storage area where creepy crawlies have field day games.

I always paint them in a light or white color.

No more hiding places.

One coat of Krylon Chalky Spray paint in Slate.

Two coats.

No, the color did not change.

The sunlight did.

When I saw the shadowed area on each side of the design, I painted Relic - a shade or two darker than Slate.


Look closely at the two on the left compared with the one on the right.

Repeated all the way around.

I did distress this table.

Just a little.

Flowers for a clean slate kind of guy.

Look!

No creepy crawlies!

Quickies

It is Sunday morning.

Let's have some quickies!

I was busy all Saturday working to complete projects.

Let's see a few of them.

Remember these two baskets from Friday Finds?

They both were sprayed Navajo White.

Yes, the brass basket came out much darker.

I distressed it with sandpaper.

I am loving this look and will be on the lookout for more hammered metal things.

No distressing needed to make this one pretty.

With my fake hydrangeas.

I started on these two silver items back in November.

Yes, November!








 

I went as far as painting them Heirloom White.

Then it was time to decorate for Christmas so they went to live in a box under the craft room table right next to Scout's bed.

He did not mind.

Some heavy sanding revealed peeks of the silver.

I like to use these for odds and ends instead of food.

The cut work trays are useful all over the house. 

Again used heavy sanding to reveal the engraved design in the center.

All four items will be at Riverfront Antique Mall in Booth W-10.

Sissie of Sissie's Shabby Cottage asked me if I had any vintage flat hangers.

I did. I did.

I had a stack of them painted with the Farragoz method in a delicate pink.



She bought some of them, and I decided to stamp on the others.

Stamped "PARIS" on the front.

Stamped a Paris address on the back.

Tied a pink ribbon around the hook.

So pretty paired with an eyelet Jeanne D'Arc Living tunic I bought at  sissiecakes.

Friday Finds

What is Kermit peeking at?

Why my Friday Finds, of course!

I went to the first annual 421 Yard Sale event - ten miles long.

Came home with treasures.

The organizers deserve a big pat on the back for starting this.

It is sure to grow.

A nice section of wrought iron.

A trellis in the making.

A section of wrought iron railing.

I would also use this as a trellis.

Both are going to the booth as soon as they are cleaned.

A rusty crown - probably a quickie project.

Silverplate dish.

Copper squirrel mold.

Aluminum measuring cup.

Ceramic door knob.

Brass hose nozzle.

Two baskets - definitely a quickie project.

If you have been reading my Quickies posts, you already know what will happen to the brass one.

I love to find the Italian tole plaques - this one a brilliant blue.

Could not pass by the framed cherub on pink velvet.

The cherub needs work.





The plaque is in the booth.

A ladder I will probably paint.

I am stripping the wiring from this chandelier to make a candelabra.


The glass shades came with it.

Maybe I'll use them.

A covered vegetable bowl and a small platter.

The pattern is pink roses with green leaves surrounded by black and gold.

Delicate and delicious pattern.

Going on Etsy.

A round plate, two salad bowls, and five dessert bowls.

Brown on cream.

1940 - 1952

Going on Etsy.

Three quilts in 30's or 40's prints - probably flour sacks.

Still vibrant colors.

Fair condition.

Need dusting.



How?

Throw one at a time into the dryer with a soaking wet towel until the towel is dry.  My method - only a suggestion!

I bought a fourth quilt.

Another shopper asked why when it was in deplorable condition.

Horribly stained.


Made of heavy weight denim and twill - most likely from work clothes.

The back is made of 100 pound flour sacks!

But sometimes treasures are hidden.

At least one, if not two, quilts inside!

Hoping I can salvage pieces because it will not hold together for a thorough cleaning.

I will let you know if I am successful.

Next week Olive Out and I are headed to Madison, GA, for a junkin' trip.
