A Gray And Chalky Guy

distressed painting, table makeover, Krylon paint
What's not to like with this guy?

He is gray and chalky with a hidden bit of flash.

Plus he is hexagonal and six-legged.

Started with a very water-stained wood finish, scratched glass top, but nifty legs and a basket weave bottom.

I love a basket weave bottom.

Since the glass was scratched, I used Looking Glass spray on the back.

Two coats - should have used three!

While the glass was drying, I pulled out my discounted Krylon paint in Creekstone.

Two coats.

I did not particularly care for the mirror look so I covered it with two coats of blackboard paint.

Should have used three!

When I was  laying on the chalk, I scratched the surface.

I will not even begin to tell you how much work that involved!

So the glass top ended up mirrored on one side and chalky on the other.

I was careful to leave dark areas instead of distressing.

The mirrored look.

Not as bad as I remember.

At Booth C-23 in Riverfront Antique Mall.

First, Maid Marion has been seen by the third and final tree doctor.  The news is bad.  She is structurally unsound and must come down.

Second, my mother had some more tests and is now being referred to an ENT doctor about her swallowing problem. Thank you so much for the good wishes and prayers.

Third, Willie went for a follow-up on Tuesday at Aiken Veterinary Clinic with Dr. Groover.

Here Willie is doing his best impression of Hannibal Lecter while Dr. Groover uses a torture device to relax the muscles around the wrenched disk.

Willie is walking better and the pain has decreased. He is slightly loopy after he takes his meds, but seems to be progressing fine.

See y'all!

  1. I love the way Willie is sticking his tongue out at his tormentor! Willie gets the last laugh, that is, until he takes his medication, then all is lost!

  7. Donna your grey table is lovely. I hate to think of how much work fixing that scratch caused. Hope the ENT helps your Mom and happy to hear that Willie is on the mend. Sorry about Maid Marion it is so sad to see that most lovely old tress have to come down eventually.

  8. Poor sweet Willie. I'm glad he's doing better. Too bad about Maid Marion. Hopefully some of her wood can be used for something. Your table turned out great! Sounds like it was a lot of work. I hope all goes well for your mom with the ENT.

  9. You did a great job with the table. I like the mirrored side and the chalk side both.
I hope your Mom gets better and I can't wait to see her rocking her new JDL pantaloons. Little Willie will be back to himself soon, I'm sure.
