Adding Texture for a Distressed Look

Sometimes a flat surface is just not exciting enough for me.  I want texture.  There various products out there which will provide texture, but I have my goopy mixture.  Regular readers will remember the three projects I completed using goopy mixture.

Cottage Caddy (with goopy mixture recipe)
Mason Jar Caddy
Flamingo Candlestick

Here it is used in a different way.

First mix up the goop.  I made this batch yellow.

Be generous glopping the goopy mixture on - I used a palette knife to spread it at an even thickness.

You can use very expensive texturizing tools, but I just used a plastic fork.  I find they work almost as well as the high end tools.

You can choose whatever design you wish to use.  I wanted several styles of free forms in this project.

Next apply a glaze.  I made my own with glaze medium and some burnt umber craft paint.  I rubbed it on with a paper towel.

You have a choice here.  Rubbing the glaze deep into the cracks or rubbing lightly over the top.  It just depends on what you want to highlight.

I let the glaze dry, then sanded with a fine sanding sponge.

The texture distresses the finish to my satisfaction.

Now you are asking yourself, "Self, what in the world is this?"

Well, folks, I am not telling you.

You will just have to visit Inspiration Cafe on Tuesday where my post will be kicking off the Junkin' Jewels series.

Hope you will come to visit.

See y'all!
