Happy Easter to all of you!
This is one of my favorite hymns.
For the beauty of the earth,
For the glory of the skies,
For the love from our birth
Over and around us lies;
Christ, our God, to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.
For the wonder of each hour
Of the day and of the night,
Hill and vale, and tree and flower,
Sun and moon, and stars of light;
Christ, our God, to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.
For the joy of human love,
Brother, sister, parent, child,
Friends on earth, and friends above,
For all gentle thoughts and mild;
Christ, our God, to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.
For Thy church that evermore
Lifteth holy hands above,
Offering up on every shore
Her pure sacrifice of love;
Christ, our God, to Thee we raise
This our hymn of grateful praise.
Amen.

Thanks for sharing that with those beautiful pictures, Donna. Our church rarely sings hymns anymore, so I hadn't "heard" that one in quite a while. I hope you have a wonderful Easter.

Instantly, that old hymn came back to me like it was just yesterday. Even could hear the organ resound between the third and fourth verse with it slowing down towards the last words! Thank you for that Easter memory! And the pictures you took enhanced the words beautifully! Happy Easter!!
ReplyDeleteLovely! I don't hear the old ones much anymore - you know, the ones your grandma used to sing or hum while working around the house? Brought tears to my eyes. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! Are all of those flowers and plants yours?
