White Primitive Cabinet

primitives, Riverfront Antique Mall
It might not sound like the most romantic Valentine's Day, but it was a sunny, chilly afternoon spent with Chucks at the Metro #1 Flea Market in Columbia.

So it was special.

Especially when I spied this beauty sitting in a trailer about fifty yards away with a fellow dealer heading in from the opposite direction.

Who would get there first?

We tied.  Luckily there were two cabinets and Linda wanted the other one.

On Monday I had about forty-five minutes between sleet and rain to clean and wax this lovely white primitive cabinet.

I have no idea why the tops of the shelves are not painted, but the underneaths are.

Unless there was liner paper.

I love the bin at the top - great storage.

All it really needed was a scrubbing with Fabuloso and some Howard's Feed-N-Wax.

 The back not painted.

But had great patina after waxing.

The sides have details which reveal this was a marriage of several older pieces many years before.

The shelves are different heights.

Drops of rain and a quick trip to the back of the Blazer.

Tuesday a trip to Riverfront Antique Mall to Booth W-10.

Stocked full of enamelware and other kitchen items.

Yes, too many pics of the white primitive cabinet, but I love it so.

So much I started to keep it.

But I did not.

Restraint.

I cleaned all across the front of the booth and down two sides.

Went back today for reclaiming another chunk of real estate.

It is beginning to look like a booth again.

It was nice to come home with Chucks, Willie, Scout, Azalee, and especially Miss Peepers waiting to sit in my lap.

Well, maybe not Chucks!

Update:  After all that staging the cabinet sold the next day!

See y'all!

Found!

Miss Peepers, missing cat returns
We are ecstatic.

Miss Peepers has found her way home after eleven days somewhere.

She is a few pounds lighter, dirty, and very hungry.

She will not let go of me so excuse the typing and short post.

She continues to tell me of her adventures, but unfortunately we do not own a cat translator.

Of course Azalee is completely depressed.

She will have to go back to sharing laps and treats.

Willie and Scout were very excited for about a minute.

Then decided a doggie nap was a better idea.

Chucks and I really appreciate all the thoughts and prayers we felt coming our way.

Our neighbors went over and beyond in searching and spreading the news of her disappearance.

See y'all!

Lost

 MISS PEEPERS

On Friday afternoon, February 5, our cat Miss Peepers went out for her daily walk and sun bath.

However this time she never came back.

Miss Peepers, beloved cat

Chucks, the neighbors and I have a sneaking suspicion the previous owner's granddaughter has stolen her. She was at the abandoned house at that time picking through the trash left behind.

I miss my cuddle buddy even though she hogs the heating pad at night.

We miss her playfulness and gentle nature.

Even Azalee, our other kitty, has been looking all over the house for Miss Peepers.

We have notified the microchip company and filed a lost report
Both the animal shelter and the SPCA have photos and files on her.

If the granddaughter returns we are to call the police since Miss Peepers is considered personal property.

 Would we do that?
Well, if she promises to take care of Miss Peepers and will keep her up to date with her shots, maybe we will forgive.

We just would like to know Miss Peepers is safe and warm.

See y'all.

UPDATE:  I finally found a way to get in touch with granddaughter who says she did not see Miss Peepers in the days she was working at the house. No one in the neighborhood has had one sighting of her.  We are hoping she is safe.

Friday Finds

thrift shops, vintage finds
During the week I kept the shopping to a minimum.

I lucked up on  some beautiful design books.

Two by Chris Casson Madden and Beach House Style by Coastal Living.

Another bird cage.

Advertising wooden hangers.

A whole stack of tiny stainless cups with chemicals labels on them.

Some iced tea spoons and enamelware plates.

Six vintage vent covers.

A bucket of eighty horse shoes.

Delivered right to my door by my favorite rust hauler.

If he is in the neighborhood, he stops by to see if I am interested in anything in his truck.

How great is that !?!

Two metal planters just looking for a makeover.

This is hand-thrown new pottery in a lovely splatter pattern.

Unfortunately I dropped the bowl on the right and cracked it.

A large picnic basket with a large red-checked tablecloth.

Imagine the pottery above on the cloth with berries in the bowls.

I plan to stay home and work on projects instead of shopping.

Of course I have not read the ads yet so the plan may fail.

See y'all!

Gone Junkin' - Statham, Georgia

primitives, vintage finds, antique storesWhat in the world did Donna buy?

A covered bridge!?!

No, but Olive Out and I did buy quite the load last Friday.

We went to Statham, Georgia - about a 300 mile round trip for me.

First, a brief stop in Madison for a Goodwill fix and lunch.

Love the silver floral presentation basket.

Two valances of pink floral with pink ticking gussets.

Two utilitarian baskets.

Statham has one long street with door-to-door antique stores.

We started at Antiques and More - a huge place filled with great stuff.

You can visit them at their Facebook page HERE!

Look at these four primitive yokes.

I have cleaned them and will begin to strengthen the wood and apply varnish as soon as the rain disappears.

I see them down the middle of a table with candles.

A wonderful green cupboard door.

Two buckets.

A watering can.

A street sign.

A plow head.

A Coke crate.

Tres Ases pear crate from Argentina.

Two sewing baskets.

The beginning of a small subdivision.

A pair of unfinished legs.

Very ornate.

When you walk in Antiques and More you are welcomed with friendly smiles and coffee or cocoa.

Next we traveled down the street to Second Hand Rose.

It is bigger than it looks from the outside.

Beautifully arranged booth spaces.

I bought the green drawer.

The market basket.

Ten tiny amber jars/bottles.

It was getting late so we popped next door to Rusty Rose.

It was rusty, crusty heaven!

You can visit Rusty Rose at their Facebook page or their website.

I am torn about what to do with this primitive beauty of a table.

It has issues.

It may need a session on the couch.

A dilapidated crate.

A stack of berry baskets.

A large Dutch sack made into a table runner.

Two rusty doll strollers.

They are in the midst of makeovers.

Two bird cages.

We also visited Factory Antiques (Facebook page)
because Evelyn, the owner, has been a customer of mine.

Great architectural items!

Olive and I scooted out of Statham just a minute or two before the afternoon traffic from Atlanta hit.

That's when we took a brief rest at the covered bridge before hopping on I-20 East and home.

Statham is definitely worth a visit, though it would probably take a few visits to squeeze in all the shops.

At least you can visit their FB pages and drool over the items posted.

So do I have enough for a Friday Finds post tomorrow?

LOL - Of course, silly.

See y'all!
