Distressed Donna Sign

rustic sign, mixed media art, collage
Take a large canvas.

Gesso the heck out of it.

Add some umber.

Add a little gel medium.

Add a photo.

Add apple pie spice powder to the paint.  (For a rusty effect!)

Add old dictionary pages.

Add torn and worn lace.

Add a shutter slat star.

Add a shutter slat sign with my name.

Add a shutter slat sign with the phrase "Trust in the rusty and crusty stuff!".

Voila!

It adds up to my new sign for my new booth.

Booth W-10 at Riverfront Antique Mall in North Augusta, SC.

I am waiting to shop with you.

I know I have been missing after promising you I would return, but I had dental surgery which knocked me out for a few days.  Also my Etsy shop was in worse shape than I first thought.  I have a boxload of items to clean, research, and write listings.  Keeping up with the larger booth is more work as I am getting slower and slower to complete tasks.  I am sure it is the cold weather and not my age!

No smart comments, please!

See y'all!

NOTE:  I updated my coupon code for my Etsy shop.  I was embarrassed to find out my coupons had expired.  There are new listings for you to browse.  Enjoy!

Friday Finds

vintage suitcases, Pyrex, Sterling China, American flag, carved angel
A short vacation last week has overloaded Friday Finds this week.

Two lovely brown suitcases - one monogrammed.

At Booth W-10, Riverfront Antique Mall, North Augusta, SC.

Hooked rug - keeping for the top of a blanket chest.

Laura Ashley valances are going to the booth.

These outdated Waverly custom shams will be washed a few more times to get them really faded.

I know someone wants these so I will take them to the booth.

A ruffled Ralph Lauren rosebud pillowcase.

Rachel Ashwell floral duvet cover and striped king sham.

Tiny springs will be kept for a project.

They are about 3 inches high.

Two ladders have joined my dwindling supply at the booth.

This one has carpet nailed to the steps, but the wood underneath is in good shape.

This tall one is my favorite.

Love the V-shaped support in the back.

It is an old one with all kinds of make-do repairs.

Missing the Spring Blossom under dish for your gravy boat?

I have this one listed in my Etsy shop for $6.

A pretty little Sterling cream pitcher.

Look at the details.

Meakin for $6 in the Etsy shop.

Already sold.

Thanks, Tammy!

A 1940's glass candy container.

I did not realize how many different figurals there are of these.

This one is missing its lantern top.

It will be going to Etsy.

The prize of the week is this pair of vintage Ray-Ban aviator Bausch & Lomb sunglasses in the original leatherette case.

A pair of vintage round glasses.

Four pairs of vintage Day Vue sunglasses with different magnifying strengths.

One pair still packaged.

Vintage coloring books.

Perry Poppitt has wonderful illustrations.

And at the top of every junking list are music books.

Bicentennial flag - stripes are sewn, but not the blue field of numbers and stars.

Where were you in 1976?

I was on the Battery in Charleston, South Carolina, watching the jets and later the fireworks over the harbor.

Books and books of S&H Green Stamps.

As children if we went to the store for groceries, we got to keep the stamps to save for a premium.

I cannot believe someone did not redeem these.

This lovely hand-carved acacia wood angel was found back in December at a craft fair.

I have kept her on the mantel because she reminds me of my word for this year - Peace.

I needed a gentle reminder peace does exist in the turmoil of recent events.

See y'all!

I Vote Grey!

vintage ballot box, painting
Remember this ballot box I found with the angel stencil?

It was sweet, but I had no idea why there would be an angel on an old ballot box.

Wouldn't everyone vote for an angel?

Unfortunately I voted to remove the angel and the "I heart angels" from the ballot box.

The wood was old and had a nice patina, but I voted for paint.

I voted for grey!  Yes, in this case I think it should be spelled with an "e".

I painted it with Relic and rubbed it with Mission Oak stain.

Added an over-dyed, torn, calico ribbon.

Added a Distressed Donna tag.

I think the ballot box is a winner.

Hands down!

I have been away for several days organizing things.

I am back.

Without warning.

See y'all!

Another Try At Features

Last night I published a post with the features from the final Make It Monday party.

It took five hours!

I have no idea what evil forces were working yesterday, but they refused to keep the text and photos from flying all over the page.

I finally resorted to writing part of it in code which made the text and photos appear, but the links did not link and the comments section did not allow comments.

So here I go again, and I sincerely hope it works this time.

Virginia's banner of pot holders at Artsy VaVa.

Mindie's amusing, but informative post on mice at The (mis)Adventures of a BornAgain Farm Girl

Rescue Rehab shared a recap of her projects for 2014.

DSCF4884

Draven at Draven Made shared a pair of gold dipped tables.

Brooke from Artistic Endeavors 101 shared her favorite project from 2014.

Sharon from Blue Willow House shared her thrifting adventures from the past year.

Vintage Aqua Bottles

We welcome a brand-new blogger with two features. Say "Hello" to Stories of Objects.

First her winter diorama HERE.

But the bears won my heart. HERE

I hope this publishes!  Please let me know if anything does not work on this post.

I will be posting the features on my Facebook page (HERE) and my Make It Monday Pinterest board (HERE).
