Easy On The Estate Sales

I am taking it easy on the estate sales, but that doesn't mean I am not going and buying some small things.

This past Saturday I hit two of the most promising ones near me.

You can take the teacher out of school, but you can't take the school out of the teacher.  It is back to school time, and as a former teacher, I still love school supplies.

I quenched my thirst with the tiny oak kindergarten chair and the tiny eight-inch paper cutter.

No, I didn't need another tackle box, but I bought one anyway.  I might keep it or just clean and wax it to sell.  The blue-green color would look great for a Christmas vignette!

Under a pile of stuff, I found the small folding stool.  It is dirty, but sturdy.  It will get a coat of paint.

Had I been operating with a normal hand and shoulder, I would have come home with boxes of rusty stuff from the garage.  I had to limit myself to what I could carry down the block to the car.  I did mean to go back and grab a large bread tin filled with all sorts of hinges.  I forgot. because I was mourning the lost of a beautiful spinet desk which I could not figure out how to get out of that house and into my house.  I hope someone recognized what it was and rescued it.

As a rust goddess I must keep my stores of rusty objects at a certain level.  I am on the lower end of my supply.

Here's what I dug out:

*Cream and green enamelware pan
*Two notched trowels
*One door knob
*One door knob lock set
*A bunch of drawer knobs
*Three shutter dogs

A shutter dog is the fancy hinge you see on old shutters enabling the shutters to open and close.

The Jumbo Root Duster - such a cool piece.

It came with some of the dust.

I will have to figure out how to clean it out.

Most of this will be ready to hang or decorate in no time.  I will share a before and after.  I never get tired of rust!

See y'all!

  6. You found some fabulous stuff Donna. I really love that tackle box. I used to be a fisherwoman once upon a time, and my now vintage tackle box is a boring black. I love that colour!
