The Raven's Harvest

Okay, I will admit it.  In the past I have not been that much into Fall decor.  I would do a mantel and a tablescape, but that is about it.  But you people out there in Blogland take this stuff seriously.  I mean, I have seen so much autumn stuff, I might have to turn off the air conditioner!  (Just kidding, Chucks, the air is staying on - it is hot.)

I made the raven with his basket of white pumpkins (read about it here) and could not stop myself from continuing the spiral into Fall!

I fell in love with those ravens at the Dollar Tree.  First, they were cute little things.  Second, they were cheap!

Remember I cleaned out my black spray paint by painting some baskets and other things.  I cannot think of what you call this particular basket.  Double quiver comes to mind, but that is probably wrong and it really doesn't matter.  I will not be playing with arrows.

Not around my adorable raven buddies!
I stuffed each side with black tissue paper.  Small white paper doilies were abused with walnut ink stain and Tim Holtz Distress Ink in wild honey.

I just folded the doilies over and held them in place with a glue dot.

I love glue dots except when the roll falls out of the box and spreads glue dots across the floor.

I had to quickly scrape them up before Willie and Scout ate them.

I used the black tissue paper to hide the white Styrofoam block pushed into one side of the basket.

I bought white pumpkins this time because they were cheaper than painting them and they were already stuck on a stick.

I just grabbed three and shoved them in the Styrofoam block.

On the other side I made a bow from black and gold harlequin wired ribbon and attached it to the handle with the raven.  The ravens come with handy-dandy wires attached to their tiny little toes.

Very neat - something not provided by Mother Nature.

Out of scrapbook paper with a harlequin design on one side and brown on the other, I stamped my "Quote the raven - Nevermore" stamp and made a tag.

I left off the gold tassel - it was too much.
Here the raven surveys his harvest of white pumpkins high above everything on the chalkboard.  I could not decide whether he should hang from the chair or the chalkboard.  I also tried him out on a door handle.  I think he prefers something high - away from the wild puppy boys racing around the house.

I better go.  Chucks is yelling at Willie who has gotten in the bed under the covers with his head on the pillow.  Chucks is telling Willie that one of them must have a flea shampoo bath.  I personally think both of them could benefit!

See y'all!

  2. Ah, ha, ha! Do you never stop, woman?! Don't you need a break after getting that shop all in order. You, like me, must be a glutton for punishment...and for the joy of all the cool stuff. Now, I'm so excited to hear about your plans to go out of your way to find some great stuff curbside. I'll be checking in on you. Can't wait to see what is waiting out there and then what you are going to do with it.

  3. Like the raven basket, where do you get your energy? Aren't you pooped after moving and organizing your booth. I worked Thursday and Friday in my booths and I am booped! Thanks for sharing your creative inspiration with Sunday’s Best – you helped make the party a success!
