Pastries Anyone?

Graphics Fairy image, painted table
Okay, I did not take this photo.

I do not have any pastries for you.

I do not have many photos of the table I finished.

In fact I could not find any of the before and during photos.

So instead of the photo of the boring brown swivel table and the exciting photo of it being sanded and painted -

I have this photo of a Patisserie - probably not even French - probably American trying to be French

Much like this table.

Here it is - finished.

Most likely a swivel TV stand at one distant time.

Painted Bermuda Sand.

Used the waxed paper method to transfer the Patisserie image from The Graphics Fairy.

 The moody shot.

The plain view shot.

And, yes, I am showing the exact same photo as above since I lost the other photos.

This may be the shortest furniture post in the history of my blog.

See y'all!

Thank You, Tammy!

blogging friend, floral arrangements
This post is a big "Thank You" to Tammy (or TMT) who was one of the first customers in my Etsy shop.

She has returned often - her favorites seem to be my handmade tags and white ironstone.

Especially creamers!

This is her latest purchase a white ironstone gravy boat.

Tammy sent me this cyber bouquet in it.

She does lovely floral arrangements.

Tammy is faithful follower of my blog posts.

I really appreciate her thoughtful comments.

We have become friends over the past two years.

Cemented by life's ups and downs.

We helped each other through the loss of beloved pets.

And cheered each other with delightful vintage finds.

This lovely bouquet was created by Tammy for a baby shower.

If you check your comment section, you might find Tammy there.

Tammy follows many of your blogs.

So this post is just for Tammy.

A great big hug for someone special.

And, yes, Tammy, I am on the hunt for another white ironstone creamer for your collection!

See y'all!

Friday Finds

vintage finds, vintage prints
An unusual Friday Finds post because I did not shop much this week.

Working out in the yard and clearing out another corner of the attic.

Best find of the week came from Chucks who discovered this beautiful nest when chopping back the hedge.

This enterprising bird used packing tape to start her nest.

I always put out dryer lint, string, yarn and such in the spring, but never thought of packing tape!

Found this New Delhi, India, sweets tin.

Great typography and graphics.

Santa Clauz Sweets!

And that is how it is spelled!

From India to Italy for this large bird figurine.

I have passed it by several weeks in a row.

When the clerk said it was on its last days, I snatched it up.

Surely someone will love it enough to buy it.

One fierce mother bird protecting her baby.

Wonder if she uses packing tape?

Horror Monster has an art gallery section.

I decided to tackle it this week.

I know this Hank guy's work is all over the 1960's - prints and place mats.

However this one is embossed for a relief look in a wood grain tin frame.

I had a gallery wall at one time up the stair well of cabin paintings.

The next three were my favorites, but I am not using them so off to the booth they go,.

The round one is an acrylic called Bayou Country.

The small water color is a cabin in the woods.  Not signed or dated.

Rainy Day is a very old engraving in the original frame.

A small cabin in a copse of woods on a hillock.

Can you tell I had imagined a whole novel about this print?

There was plenty more in Horror Monster's art gallery, but Chucks and I have some kind of annoying bug which makes your nose run, your eyes sting, and your body craved both sleep and junk food.

So lazy me took no more photos, became quite enthralled with Cheryl Strayed's movie Wild, and made a trip to BAM to purchase the book and the movie, and is currently engrossed in the book.

So excuse while I eat my Wendy's chicken sandwich, read a book, and go back to sleep!

See y'all!

Boo-tiful Booth

Riverfront Antique Mall, Fall booth display, fall decor
I worked all day on Tuesday to get the big booth in shape for fall.

Here's a view from down the aisle.

I call this my "porch" area - we get to use two feet into the aisle outside our enclosed booth.

Started with a trip to Dollar Tree for small foam pumpkins in day-glo orange.

No way they were staying that color - used antiquing glaze to tone them down.

They are only for display.

I have tiny black baskets on the turquoise ladder

The dealer next door chose to go with turquoise and orange too.

It is so nice to have the booth next to you complement your merchandise.

Also picked up some ghastly mirror clings for an extra scare.

This one of a zombie baby.

The turquoise pedestal from Sunday's Quickies post (HERE) is perfect for small pumpkins.

There is another mirror cling of a ghostly woman.

One final peek.

Off to create some Halloween goodies for my booth and my Etsy shop.

Chucks says my booths are neater than our home.

He is so right!

See y'all!

Book Loot Two

vintage book finds
Book Loot Two is all about the underdogs of book finds.

Bought for the subject matter or the cover art.

Not valuable.

Appeal to certain tastes.

All five of these had great titles or great cover art.

Sometimes there are found relics in the books - bookmarks, study notes, letters, post cards, and in this case - a fold-out advertising fan.

I leave them in the books for customers to find.

These three had both the original paper covers and wonderful graphics on the bound covers.

Tied a simple ribbon around each one of these to call attention to the cover art.

Bible Characters had a whole lot of character itself.

Tattered and torn - wonderful font and book plates inside.

I have a broad customer base for vintage textbooks at all grade levels.

A World Geography book from 1950.

I bought the National  Velvet book for old times' sake.

I once collected National Velvet's - I had over forty copies of them from different years, sizes, covers. etc.

I have since sold them, but still buy them when I spy one.

Can you tell it was my favorite book growing up?

I usually buy Will Rogers books - this one Ether And Me.

Yes, I do read many of the books I pick up.

Anatomy of Me caught my eye.

I sell a lot of reference books.

Everyone needs a Mammoth Encyclopedia of Wit and Humor!

RANDOM ITEMS OF INTEREST

I drove my mother to the doctor to find out more about her swallowing problem.

The office is located in a renovated cotton mill.

Very impressive!

The sliding loading dock door is hung in the waiting room.

Look at the size!

They sanded it a little and waxed it a lot.

They must be patina people!

Here's a pic of Willie and Scout after returning from the vet.

They both have suffered sports injuries.

Willie had to get a follow-up spine adjustment for his wrenched disk.

Scout was playing with another small dog at the dog park and stopped suddenly.

 The other dog rear-ended him.

Scout now is suffering a very bruised ACL in his rear left knee.

They are sad because they are not allowed at the dog park for a couple of weeks.

However they are quite in love with the pain meds!

See y'all!
