Shopping The Shed

buckets, crates, vintage finds, collections, rust
I had big plans for Chucks to drive me to the flea market fifty miles away to find some bargains.

He was ready to get away from here, but hesitant when he saw my list.

During the night I developed a terrible headache and could not sleep.

No sleep = No flea market

So I decided to mosey on down to Inman Grocery to shop our shed.

 An inside view.

I keep everything straight, but Chucks and our helper Calvin like to open the door and pitch stuff in.

Aggravates the fool out of me.

They will pay.

In a few weeks everything must come out for it to be renovated.

There were many bargains to be found.

All were FREE!

I only pulled out a few things.

Things I no longer use in the house or the yard.

Things I am willing to sell.

Sort of.

I will let the photos tell the story of all the treasures uncovered.

Calvin, Chucks and I cleaned, painted, and tagged most of it.

Loaded it in the truck to be taken to Riverfront Antique Mall.

Of course I did most of the work.

They say I am too demanding.

I am the Rust Goddess.

And they are my subjects.

Sometimes they forget.

Chucks only participated as long as I was willing to part with it all.

Which is why I was super-selective about which items were pulled out of the shed.

The bucket brigade - all cleaned!

Think of all the container gardens!

I would just hang this on the gate.

And I think I did that one year!

Muffin tins for tiny succulent gardens.

Rusty beauty

Some kind of metal dividers I used as trellises one year.

Willie was sure I hid biscuits in this pile.

No, I am not getting rid of my orange army cot.

I put this kettle in the pile, but saved back about seven to decide what types of containers I will be using for summer flowers.

I am very low on windows.  These are the last four in the shed.

This screen was on the mantel a couple of years ago.  I loved the chippy white over turquoise.

But into the pile it went.

I will scream later.

The screen with a pile of rake heads.

I did sneak some of the rake heads back in the shed and left these three.

Don't tell Chucks.

Say good-bye to my little friends.

Did you see anything you would have kept?

Did I give up something I will regret?

Well, to his credit, Chucks was rather proud of my progress.

He promises we will go to the flea market in a couple of weeks.

I'm just glad he wasn't home to see what I hid in the attic the other day!

See y'all!

A Hint Of Spring

Garden, plants, spring
As I was walking around picking up more debris from the ice storm, I noticed there was definitely a hint of spring in the yard.

I was delighted to see my lavender standing upright again and putting up shoots.

The Queen Ann's Lace is growing into a beauty.

The Mexican Sunflower is popping up everywhere.

Got to tame that thing.

The stonecrop is fixing to shoot up.

I use the old stems to cover the new plants from winter weather.

More succulents - this one called Nasty Nancy around the neighborhood for her habit of growing wherever she touches.

I have miniature daffodils shoots, but this late I do not think they will bloom this year.

Tiny pink buds on this azalea.

The Sweet Autumn clematis is growing inches every day.

I swear, inches!

A victim of the storm - a cabinet door used beside a plant table was flattened by a limb which flattened a pot which released Nasty Nancy who spread along the table top.

I do not know where she thinks she is going.

As I walked about taking photos and enjoying the sun, Scout and Willie were planning a jail break.

Silly boys, I know your tricks!

I am planning to enjoy what little spring there is this weekend before the cold hits again.

See y'all!

Tiny Dancers Tagging Along

tattered tags, distressed painting, tags, altered art, dancers
I would love to say as we sat without power for three whole days, I was industrious and finished many a project.

However I must be honest.

I mostly just hibernated with a book near the daylight from the front window.

Now that the power has returned, I have nary an excuse for not finishing a load of tags which have been sitting around.

I now introduce the tiny dancers.

I layered on a thick layer of my gloopy paint in greige on shipping tags and went from there.

The images are from The Graphics Fairy.

Printed nine to a page on heavy cream coverstock.

On some of them I punched fancy corners.

I used my damask stamp, a floral stamp, and a Moroccan door stamp as backgrounds.

Vintage lace, French seam binding, beads and buttons were used to embellish.

Some were edged with pink or white pleated tulle on the bottom edge.

Each set of tags had words stamped on the back.

On this set I painted a gold background.

I used a gray ink for the background stamps.

This image was used on earlier tags, but this set is slightly different.

The ties are charcoal - not navy.

Large vintage buttons were added.

 Lace added to the backs.

This photo is true to the color of the ribbon ties - gray.

The two little girls dressed as angels are not dancers, but I threw them in just because I love the image.

Added a white feather to each.

A cherub and some lace for the back.

Heavy charcoal distressing around the edges of these and the ones above.

"Angels" stamped on.

Look closely and you can see the thick texture the gloopy paint leaves on the tags.

These tattered tags will be available in my Etsy shop.

We are getting some painting weather so I hope to be outside this weekend.

Next week the Polar Vortex returns.

An elderly farmer told me yesterday he and The Farmer's Almanac predict a spring snow.

A SPRING SNOW!?!

In the last three weeks we have had snow, sleet, the worst ice storm in history, an earthquake, aftershocks, and a heat wave.

Please Mother Nature, be kind.

See y'all!
