Horsing Around

Horse tack finds, thrift store
I was out horsing around the thrift shops when I stumbled upon a bunch, and I do mean tables, of old horse tack.

There were black leather riding boots and a ladder used to mount the horse.

A whole basket filled with brass and chrome pieces for bridles and saddles.

Headpiece for the horse.

I loved the soft leather.

Old brushes.

A curry comb.

A cinch belt for a saddle.

Shin guards for polo ponies.

A very old brush.

This headpiece was lined with sheepskin.

I have to admit I love the smell of horses and leather.

I love the gear.

So of course I had to buy it.

I did pass on the saddles.

Had regrets about that.

I bought the large basket to hold all my horse treasures in my booth.

The pillow forms?

Who in their right mind would pass up pillow forms for $3?

Not me!

See y'all!

  2. You found some great horse stuff! And, I would have had to have those pillow forms too! I'm trying to work up the energy to get to work this morning...I'm so sore! I've been using muscles I didn't know I had and my arthritis is screaming! But...it is so worth it...my living room is looking great! Have a great day...Vicky

  3. I don't own any of that fancy horse stuff. When I do get the chance to ride, I'm usually bare back... but that's because the old horse I ride prefers it that way. He's a little iffy in his old age (26!).

  4. Impressive collection you've assembled! Beautiful leather pieces.
One word of warning...you do know that pillow forms can magically multiply until you have no room in your sewing room? True story. ;)
