Time for tags again.
This time Little Red Riding Hood.
I always loved her spirit.
I started with shipping tags.
Aged them with a splash of red ink, a spritz of walnut ink, a light spray of red dye, and finished with daubs of brown distressing ink.
I wanted an aged leather look.
Dismantled an old junior dictionary with large print and yellowed thick pages.
Cut them into rectangles the size of the shipping tags.
Then I ran them through the crimper!
Never heard pf a paper crimper?
Make sure to go visit Christina at i gotta create for her wildly original ideas for crimped tin foil projects.
After seeing all the wonderful projects she made, I had to have one.
The crimper corrugates the paper.
The Little Red Riding Hood image is from The Graphics Fairy.
I used just her head and attached a graduated stack of the corrugated dictionary pages.
I used distressing ink on the edges of the pages.
Then I Mod Podged the girls onto the shipping tags.
Applied two coats of Mod Podge over the top of everything.
The tags turned out to be too dark for me so I white-washed the areas around her head and the book pages.
The back has a simple "Hey There Little Red Riding Hood".
White-washed the back also.
Used leather for the ties.
She looks quite happy.
The backs.
The fronts and the backs.
Little Red Riding Hood tags in sets of three are available in my Etsy shop. (See the sidebar and discount code below.)
Flash back to Sam the Sham and Betty Boop.

I always love it when you make tags! Love the graduation of the crimped pages...so clever. So, do you have an endless supply of shipping tags or what?
ReplyDeleteYes, Danni, I buy boxes of 500 each time. I find them to be cheaper that way.
DeleteThese are quite stunning!
ReplyDeleteWhere does your creativity come from? These are so sweet! I'm going to have to search the Graphics Fairy for something to inspire me! Have a beautiful Sunday.....Vicky
ReplyDeleteYou get more creative each time you make tags. These are very pretty. Love the crimped
ReplyDeletepaper. They should be good sellers in your shop.
Blessings,

I love these tags! The crimping is such a fabulous effect with the pages. I want a crimper now.!!
ReplyDeleteI just love those Red Riding Head tags!! You are such a creative tag lady! Better than a bag lady! Oh my gosh you brought back memories with Sam the Sham, and the video is cute and I can almost remember where I was when that song was popular. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely Adorable! I Love Creating and Collecting Tags too. And Thank You for coming for a Blog Visit and giving me some valuable dietary Cardio advice. I have been eating more Nuts, been having a strange Craving for them... perhaps my body just knew instinctively what it needed because today my Blood Sugar was in the Healthy Range for the first time since I was Hospitalized!!! I'm working more on dietary control so that I won't have to take pills or shots eventually, at least that is my Goal... and I Hope they send me to an equally progressive Cardiologist as yours?!

Cute tags Donna. I like the corrogated dictionary pages! Thank you for sharing then as well as your blue cabinet and thrift store finds at What We Accomplished Wednesdays. Have a great week! ~Deborah
ReplyDeleteYour tags are always so creative Donna! I sold my crimper in a yard sale two years ago. I wasn't scrapbooking much anymore so I thought I would down size my supplies. Why I sold that I don't know. I've wished I had one a few times since. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
Oh put a wolf on the other side please!
