Luggage, Linens, Letters

suitcases, metal letters, lace, tablecloths, shoe forms, turquoise dresser
Time for the first cousins' lunch out somewhere.  This year we chose Orangeburg, South Carolina on January 2, at the Chestnut Hill Grill.  It was a rainy, dreary, and chilly day, but we were able to find JOY in each other's company.

After laughing and carrying on, we left for Debbie's house where she presented me with this fabulous set of vintage luggage.

A lovely gray tweed.

She suggested selling it.

I assured her I had the perfect place for it and had no thoughts of selling the set.

Just look at the round hatbox case!

And, no, I will not be keeping it on the dining room table!

At the SPCA thrift store, someone had donated a bunch of vintage linens.

Both tablecloths are square.

I have a small square dining table, and it is hard to find tablecloths.

I may have to go through my stack and purge a few to keep these two.

First, a lovely lavender one with six matching napkins.

Look at that lace work.

All the work - even the hemming is hand-sewn.

I know, I know - wonky photos and colors again.

This one is buttery yellow with white embroidery and cutwork lace inserts.

The hem is scalloped.

Wouldn't this look lovely for Easter?

I am not sure if I would choose the lavender set or this yellow beauty.

Do I dare keep two?

A whole bin of metal letters and numbers in white, yellow, and orange.

They are rusty.

They are crusty.

And they are distressed!

They have metal hooks on the back so I am assuming they were outside letters for a sign.

You know, the ones before those plastic ones.

Not sure how many are in this bin, and I am not sure what I will do with them.

I will promise to share.

Last week I shared my wooden boot stretchers which I had not known existed.

This week I found shoe forms for making pumps!

These are tiny - like a size four or five.

Aren't they precious!

Why such small treasures this week?

Well, just look at what I have been driving around with in the back of the Blazer!

An already turquoise and pretty French-style dresser with an attached mirror!

Finally on Friday I got her over to Riverfront Antique Mall and set her up with some other pretties for a nice display.

Sorry, I forgot to take a picture of her naked and I was not about to take all this stuff off her.

Just close your eyes and imagine!

So that is how I started 2014 with a bunch of "L's" - luggage, linens, lace, letters, and lovelies.

Oh, and add lunches - I have attended four this past week.

And I stuck to my diet for each one!

Take a look at my sidebar - I have started an Etsy shop with just a few items.

The Junkin Jewels will be back this year over at The Inspiration Cafe on the second Tuesday of the month.

For January Carlene at Organized Clutter will be creating a great project.

See y'all!

  4. Congrats on the Etsy store! I wish you the very best with it! Love the luggage esp the hat box. I'd keep both tablecloths but that's just me, at least for awhile. And those letters are fabulous. Your booth looks great. I'd love to have one like it someday!

Anxious to see what you do with the metal letters. Good luck with your Etsy shop. I think I may be your first customer.

  6. Just love it all! You can never go wrong with beautiful linen. Keep a stash so that you'll always have the pretties whatever the occasion. The metal letters are great and it will be fun to see what you do with them. I could take some of them off your hand if you like.:) Where is your shop? How close are you to GA? I just may have to make a trip.

  8. Lucky you...love the luggage! It looks brand new...:) That French Provencial dresser looks exactly like mine in my bedroom except mine had three small drawers in the middle. I like it in aqua....so pretty. I am eventually moving mine to my dining room and painting it and am thinking black, grey, or white. We'll see..:) I checked out the ETSY shop...good job! Maybe one day I will get mine up and going. The shipping prices part intimidates me though. Have a blessed Sunday.....Vicky

  10. Hey Miss Donna;
I hope that you are able to put the Lovely Luggage in your Guestroom. I think that it would look so nice with all of the Goodies which you have in there!!! And, besides they can hold items which you are using to work on, or such!
Those Tablecloths are so Beautiful!!!!! All of that hand work......I would keep em both!!! :-)
(I could set many a table with them!!!!)
    The aqua dresser is Beautiful.
BTW, what you have done in your space at the Mall looks so much better than Anything which is seen while out and about!!!!
