I have been a bad blogger - not showing off my Christmas stuff.

These pics are from the first of December of my Booth W-10 at Riverfront Antique Mall in North Augusta, South Carolina.  (For those of you who asked where is the booth!)

I was inspired by the mannequin trees - especially Rita's at  Panoply.

Rita's tutorial HERE.

So I made a poor woman's copy of it.

Took the top of my dressmaker's form.

Wove garland through the wire at the bottom.

Let her wear my favorite Christmas tee.

Made her a garland scarf.

Placed her high on top of Katherine, my primitive cabinet. 

(Now for sale! The cabinet, not Sassy Miss Chris.)

I bleached close to 300 trees this year and about half have sold.

I keep them out all year for other seasons.

Little vignettes of Christmas tucked in and out the booth.

I promise it is the last one.

More trees and Christmas-y stuff.

And the gnome for under the tree has not sold!

I sorta feel sorry for him.

He really needs to be sitting under a tree somewhere.




Is that a giant carrot or is he just showing off?!?

Madonna And Child

It is no secret my love of Madonna and child images, creches, and religious icons.





I decided to create a few for some special people this year.

I used materials in Horror Monster's craft section.

Some wooden banner pieces.

Some sea mist paint.

I went to The Graphics Fairy and found several Madonna and child images I especially liked.

After printing them I paper punched decorative edges.




Mod Podged the images on the front of each board.

Adeste Fideles music on the back.

Added silver leaf - just for the something extra.

Used a silver chenille stem as a hanger. 

I really cannot chose a favorite.

The music image was found at  Knick Of Time.

I made several and a few extras. (FOR ME)

They are heavy duty for hanging on a big tree or displayed in a tiny corner.






Chucks and I have torn up carpet, polished floors, and bulldozed debris.

In less than a week we must have a family Christmas Eve ready.

We are going for the minimalist look this year.

We found a half-price tree and stuck a few lights and ornaments on it.

AND all my creches and Madonnas are out so let's call it decorating and stick to cleaning.

Christmas Ornament Exchange

This is my third year participating in Vicky Hunt's annual Christmas Ornament Exchange. (Vicky can be found here with all the ornaments!)

Vicky matches each of us to a partner.



One to send a package and one to receive a package.

One day a large box arrived.

I opened it to find two gifts inside.

A lovely note from AnnMarie who blogs at  Musings of a Vintage Junkie .

The first package was this rustic star.

Distressed and rusty.

Jute and jingle bells.

Perfect for my den.

The other package contained one of AnnMarie's snow globes.

Of course the first thing I saw was the bottle brush tree.

Tied with red striped jute webbing and two jingle bells.

And peeking out in the snow was a small fox.

I have a secret obsession with foxes.

Maybe not so secret any more!

The snow globe has found a place in front of the old red barn with some other vintage bottle brush trees.

The star is nestled in a basket until we dig out the trees.

The star will remain on display throughout the year.

Friday Finds

The footless patriot and I dove into Horror Monster's (my beloved craft stash) hidey hole behind the living room sofa.

It was not a pretty sight.

I dragged out treasure after treasure.

Cleaned and tagged.

Once upon a time long ago I used this woven bamboo chest as an end table.

It sits on little wooden casters.

You would be proud of me - I was tempted, but did not steal its casters to put into my collection.

I had the matching blanket chest.

It has little tiny feet not casters.

I did clean the top.

Lots of storage!

But it had not seen the light of day in years.

Being hidden under a desk behind the sofa, that is.

Two old picnic baskets.

The one in back is quite unusual.

Lined with metal with a lift-out lidded container.

Never have seen another like it.

Lots of storage!

A long- forgotten treasure from the flea market.

A small jewelry chest.

Well, not that small - as big as half the sofa cushion.

Unusual - the top is slanted.

Inside - a red velvet and blue silk lining.

A mirror with gold framing.

Under the photos and postcards I removed years ago, a note.

A bit of its history.

Also hidden behind the sofa my collection of file boxes from the forties and fifties.






These are constructed of wood and cardboard.

Great storage.

I am keeping these.

And promise NOT to hide them behind the sofa.

Now I am sure you are trying to figure out what treasures were hidden in all those wonderful storage pieces.

I can only show a few.

A bean pot with no lid. 

A Portuguese painted vase.

An aluminum coffee pot with no lid.

Loads of dishes, milk glass, and assorted bits and bobs.

All were hidden under the desk behind the sofa and are now out in the open.

Most will make the journey to the booth this weekend.







So did I buy anything this past week?

A large basket to hold newspapers.

A quilted heart.

Sweet oval portrait of a young boy.

A red suitcase - quickly snatched from my booth and bought the other day.

A huge twig basket.

And Ruby, the red-nosed mule ear deer.

Chucks was quite astonished by this purchase.

Liz of The Rusty Typewriter (Etsy shop here) had Ruby in her booth at Riverfront Antique Mall.

I could not help but fall in love with her glittery red nose.

I am sure the sharp-eyed among you noticed I still have my Thanksgiving cloth on the table.

I did decorate the outside of the house so it does appear there are Christmas decorations inside, but, alas, there are not.

We hope to remedy that situation soon.
