I Shot An Arrow ...

I shot an arrow into the air.

Where it landed, I simply do not have the energy to care.

As to what it hit, I do not have the time to spare!



I give a huge standing O to all of you who blithely travel from farm sales to antique fairs hauling your merchandise with you.

I am in a dither about the Magnolia Ridge Antiques & Arts Gathering.

Every time I think I am ready, I think of a gazillion things I need to do.

Believe me when I say, having a booth space is many, many times easier.

Back to today's post which is the makeover of the globe and dictionary stand from Friday Finds.

It was already quite sturdy and mostly clean.

Yes, you did spy my handy dandy grill brush - the all-purpose furniture cleaner.

I had two partial cans of Krylon matte gray I thought would be perfect.

I always paint the bottom of a piece first.

I was loving this color.







 

Flipped the stand over to paint the tops of the shelves.

Guess what?

I had put an empty can in the cabinet!?!





Many, many choice words later.

And those words were very colorful.


 

I found a can of Rust-Oleum Satin Granite to finish the piece off.

A perfect match.

I did have to lightly spray over the parts I had finished.

BUT I did not have to put on clothes to travel out to Hobby Lobby!

Since reference books and globes were once stored here, arrows seemed to be the perfect stencil to use.

I used a bright white craft paint.

The stencil fit perfectly.

Quickies - BINGO!

More signs!

The cupboard door from Friday Finds READ HERE inspired a group of BINGO signs.

The door needed a good scrubbing and it was good to go.

The BINGO stencil was purchased from Old Sign Stencils designed by Donna of Funky Junk Interiors.

Cream, black and red craft paint was used to stencil.

This is officially the worst photo ever!

This sign can be found in Booth W-10.

It prompted me to drag out some spare boards to create two more.

The most time involved is waiting for paint to dry.

These two are going to Magnolia Ridge Antiques and Art Gathering on May 21.

Friday Finds

It was the perfect trifecta - sidewalk shopping, thrift store discount day, and Habitat sale day.

A pair of lovely turquoise French doors that remind of Joanna Gaines.

They came quite a roundabout way from Olive Out.

A pair of old screen doors.

As you can see the doors are in Booth W-10.

Thanks, Liz, for this primitive beauty.

Handmade shoeshine box.

Came with real dirt!

One tweed suitcase.

Two large brown suitcases.

One blue train case.

A large green and yellow cupboard door.

Come back Sunday for its makeover.

I've finished this makeover also.

I've been a painting fool.

I found a box of reference books.

Harold loved his dictionary so much, he engraved his name on it! 

I love red levels to display bottle brush trees - this one just level enough to show my poor brick barrow no longer even pretends to be level! 

A leather briefcase.

These make great magazine storage.

I have polished all the cases.

I have fluffed some stuff.



I am on a painting spree.

South Main Superette

I am busy, busy, busy finishing projects for the farm sale and keeping the booths stocked.

 
Lately I have been in a painting signs kind of mood.

I started with two boards from Horror Monster, my beloved stash.

Dug out the Bermuda Sand paint.

(Really if anyone walked into my house the first thing she would say is "How much?" There is that much stuff in the living room!)

These two boards have had many reincarnations.

Yes, the colors are rather fab, but I going white.

You can see I relented and let some of the other layers of paint show through.

Just brushed on a thin coat.

There's Willie hanging his head - he despises having his photo taken, but insists on being in the background.

Growing up I used to love going to the superette - loved the name of the tiny grocery store.

So I made up South Main Superette for my sign.



I did not have the right size stencils for the lettering.

Printed out the letters.

Taped them to the boards.

Used old fashion carbon paper.

I pick up every box I can find at estate sales.

The top board shows the letters in black and red.

The bottom shows after highlighting and shadowing the letters.

Then off they went (after a couple of coats of varnish) to Booth W-10.

Yesterday I spent several hours with a new group of signs.

Will show you on Sunday.

Painted some items for the Gathering, tagged some items for the Gathering, and waxed some items for the Gathering.

It seems to be all about the Gathering - I have two weeks left to prepare.

YIKES!!!
