Scoreboard Score and a Drink

Coca-Cola sign Scoreboard
Sometimes for a hoarder, er, collector like me, a super find from the past pops out and surprises you all over again.  This time I really scored.  Let's drink to that.

I have been clearing boxes from under the bed and there was one way up near the wall I could not reach.

The other day I finally took my hiking pole and shoved it out the other side.

Ah, that is where that was!  A box of metal pieces.

It was a scoreboard!

At least it was the 0's and 1's of a scoreboard - most likely baseball.

They did hang from a piece of plywood painted green in the pantry area of the kitchen.  One Christmas I took it down to pile several boxes and crates to stylishly arranged my junk , er, collectibles.  I put them in a box and under the bed they went.

Never to emerge again until the other day.

It is hand-painted and in fairly good shape.  Only one piece has heavy rust and there are no bullet holes.

The surprise of the scoreboard appears when you turn the pieces over and find this.

Can you guess?

It's like a brain game.

It is a partial Coca-Cola sign!

Evidently the rest of the sign had the rest of the numbers on it.

Love the patina!

I carefully checked, but there is no signature on this section of the  artist who painted it.

Signatures are greatly sought after.

It does have the trademark symbol.

That familiar font in white on a red background.

This is obviously hand-painted.  You can feel the brushstrokes.

Let's raise a small green bottle of ice-cold Coca-Cola to toast this recovered find.  (Everyone knows the small green bottles are the best Coca-Cola!)

I plan to find a new home for this treasure since I have not been appreciating its true glory.

Molly is enjoying the extra space under the bed to stretch out and hide from the dogs.

She had to be in the picture because she is the boss.

Who would ever think to find a scoreboard under her bed?  Wait a minute, that sounded all wrong!

Well, back to treasure hunting in the house. I plan an excursion into one of the attics this week.  Nobody knows what might be in there.  I hope no body or bodies!

See y'all!

  15. I'm with Suzan, how many attics do you have? That horror monster has his work cut out for it sprawling into more than one attic. You are amazing to keep after it. I can't tell you how I'm dying over your metal pieces with the coca cola on the on the one side. I live to come across something like this one day. I've been wanting to cover table tops with metal pieces from various old signs or or a full sign. Pieces of something like this would be so cool. I bet you will have that sold in a jiffy. Those coca cola collectors would go nuts for it. Hope you command a nice price for it!

  17. I just had to take out the metal frame under our bed when we got new mattress' and the bed turned out to be waaaaay toooo high for me. My 6 year old grand daughter helped me excavate under there--we used a cane to grab the boxes and heave. Fortunately there actually was NOT too much under there! Box of old bottles I dug from an old dump where I grew up; some old ribbons and trimmings and fake jewels--I actually thought of YOU when I found these!!!--and a Mystery Box.

The Mystery Box turned out to be full of---make up.

    I don't WEAR make up.

    This was--my MOTHERS make up.

Mother died quite some time ago--and NEVER lived in my house. And when she died I did NOT bring any of her make up from Arizona to New York.

The grand kid said--Gee Dran Ma that woman was NOT nice. First she left her make up under YOUR bed and then she walked off and DIED.

    I almost pee'd myself.

  25. If you're a gamer who needs a monitor with fast refresh rates to keep the action smooth, the Dell Alienware AW2720HF Black Friday is an excellent choice. Its soft 240Hz IPS panel can produce a consistent 120 frames per second at its native 1920x1080 resolution. That's not a lot of frames per second, but it's more than enough to enjoy fast-paced shooters like Fortnite and CS: GO. Its response time is decent, too, with 6ms G2G and 8ms MPRT.
