Bottle Brush Tree Joy

The bottle brush trees are back again.  This time they are spreading a little joy throughout the Christmas season.

I found a big bag of  blocks at the thrift store. They had stickum all over them that had to be removed.

YUCK!

It was nasty!

Painted them cinnamon red.

Then applied crackling medium.

Painted them with sage green.

See?  Beginnings of crackling.

 Applied satin craft varnish.

Signed the bottom.

Always sign the bottom of your work, folks.

Went finger-walking through the bottle brush tree forest.

It appears as if a wind storm has blown through.

I picked out the yellowish and pinkish ones.

These are not dyed - this is how they turned out after bleaching.

Stamped some JOY on each block.

Glued three bottle brush trees with E-6000.

(Notice the box top or bottom lined with waxed paper.   It is one of my work boxes.  I line up the crafts I am working on with all the materials needed.  It keeps things organized when you are working on more than one project.  Go back and look above at the way I used the work boxes.)

Oh, joy!  another bottle brush tree project completed.

Yes, I have more.

Oh, yeah, I added some gold glitter glue around each tree.

The JOY trees are off to the booth where I hope they will make some one's season merry and bright.

In other news I have worked very hard on the slash room (craft/computer/guest room).  The reveal will take three posts!

I know you can barely stand to wait for it.

I promise it will be a shocker.

See y'all!

  1. Major curious about your guest room.
I used box lids for my projects too. So very handy. Use them to keep lego pieces off the floor, DGS cooperates with that thankfully.

  14. They are sooo cute, Donna! No doubt they were a huge success in your booth.

You are so fortunate to find components for your projects at thrift stores. That really cuts down on the expense.
