The Pumpkin Patch

pumpkin patch, Rick's Produce, fall decor, frozen charlottes, baby boo pumpkins
A recent visit to Rick's Produce made me pumpkin patch happy.

Every year people around here make a pilgrimage out Whiskey Road to choose mums, corn stalks, and PUMPKINS!

Not really a pilgrimage - about four miles from my house.

Tiny little orange ones - I passed these by - used them last year.

Baby boos!

Yes, I'll take a bag full of these.

Last year as you may remember I bought a pink mosaic. (HERE)

However while I was waiting for them to be unloaded, my eye was attracted to the BLUE pumpkins.

And the blue-green turban pumpkins.

I still have to decide.

They are selling out quickly.

Pink or blue?

What would you do?

Of course the Charlotte Sisters are quite taken by the creamy white baby boos.

Sister seemed to attract dirt as she picked her pumpkins.

See y'all!

Swap & Tell

Atlas jar, vintage lace, buttons, Frozen Charlotte, swap meet

Distressed Donna Etsy Shop Swap Item

Welcome, everyone, to the first -

 Swap & Tell!

I am very excited to be a part of this link party.

As a shopkeeper, I am looking forward to meeting other sellers and viewing their products.

This is a link up for shop owners trading products and posting reviews! This link up is all about helping one another get exposure for our products and services. We all know that advertising can be very expensive, so my co-hosts and I are so very happy to be offering a way to get your name out there to new audiences for the cost of a trade, while helping fellow shop owners in the process.

Speaking of co-hosts, I am pleased to introduce you to Ann at Tarnished Royalty and Heather at Woods of Bell Trees . These lovely ladies each have unique and fun blogs and personalities, each with a growing following. Be sure to pay them a visit! Your link will show on all three blogs simultaneously, meaning more opportunities! If you are just now finding out about Swap & Tell, you can read more about it here.

Follow Distressed Donna at:

I'm so ready to get to the swap, but first, please read the rules:

*This link up is a SWAP so please ONLY link up posts that contain a picture of an item you would like to swap and have fun shopping around! Links that are not for swap will be removed to preserve the authenticity of the link up.

*Link up a post from your blog, Etsy, Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram that contains a picture and description of your swap item, using a permalink to your specific post not your general URL from your chosen source.

*Look around at the other links until you spy something that interests you. Visit as many as you like and when you find something you'd like to swap for, leave the other person a comment with a link to your posted item.

*Once you have committed to a swap, please edit your post with a note that your item is already swapped so you won't continue to get offers.

*Exchange address info with your swap partner. Each person will pay shipping for the item she/he is sending.

*Please be prepared to ship your product no later than one week from the time the swap ends. (The timetable for services will be worked out between those swapping.)

*Product reviews should be posted no later than two weeks from the time the swap ends. (The review timetable for services will be worked out between those swapping.)

*The review should contain a photo of the product received; your own scoop on the product; and a link back to the product, shop or person (their choosing). (The review for services may or may not include a photo, details to be worked out between those swapping.)

*Please include the Swap & Tell button or text link back to your host in your linked post.

*Etsy does not allow outside links within a product description. So if you are swapping a product from Etsy, the workaround is to post it on a blog, Facebook, Pinterest or Instagram before linking up.

And finally, have fun and remember, it's all about promoting and helping one another. The value of the swap is in more than the products received, but in the exposure you will receive from reviews. A swap means a review for your product too!

Drop It Or Swap It - A Jar!

Atlas jar, vintage lace, buttons, Frozen Charlotte, swap meetUp for a swap today is one of the Atlas jars I found recently.  Read here.

It cleaned up nicely.

It is a pint (I think!) about 6 inches high.

The jar has a glass top with a wire bale.

It is not embossed "Atlas", but does have the HA mark on the bottom.

It is filled with several yards of two different laces, a string of buttons, and a small Frozen Charlotte.  History of Frozen Charlottes here.

You may want to use the contents for a project.

Or just use it as a display piece.

If you are interested, leave a comment.

Remember to link to the Drop It Or Swap It Party at Tarnished Royalty.

See Ann for details if you are not a blogger, but would like to join the fun.  Find Ann here at Tarnished Royalty.

Last week I swapped my decorative hat for a vintage apron.

I will be making several of these jars for the Etsy shop and will be listing them this weekend.

I have old pillow tickings and vintage linens to list also.

Be sure to check it out and use the discount coupon below if you decide to buy an item or two.

See y'all!

Merry and Bright

Christmas decoration
Here are a few vignettes in the living room.

No deconstruction - just pared down to a simple merry and bright Christmas.

The Frozen Charlottes like to pretend they are sugar plum fairies at Christmas.

We only used vintage Shiny Brite balls of various sizes and hundreds of white lights for the tree.

An angel greets visitors at the door.

A simple vignette: vintage postcards, a lighted topiary, and my quail collection.

I do change out the prints around the house with snow pictures.

They stay up until the end of February.

Come on by if you have the time.

I promise all the junk is put away.  Neatly!

I always allow guests this time of year.

I promise fudge, cookies, and Chucks' horrible coffee.

See y'all!

Frozen Charlottes Travel to Florida and France!

Frozen Charlottes, Christmas, ornaments
Every reader knows how I love my Frozen Charlottes.  After signing up for the ornament exchange at Vicky's, I decided to make ornaments using three of the girls.

One would travel to Magali in Brittany, France.
(The Little White House On The Seaside)

One would travel to Vicky (Life On Willie Mae Lane) in Florida.

And one would stay here with me and hang on the tree.

Materials:
*Vintage-looking paper
*Three Frozen Charlottes
(They all clamored to go - it was hard to choose!)
*Three small paper mache' boxes with window lids
*Bottle brush trees
*Mod Podge
*E-6000 glue
*Craft paint

Mod Podge the paper on the boxes.

While the bottoms dried, I painted the lids with blue.

Then I added a silver glaze over both the lids and the bottoms.

I attached a silver wire to the sides and secured it with small buttons. I used an eyelet on the holes so the wire would not pull through.

The Frozen Charlottes and bottle brush trees were attached with E-6000.

Yes, it is difficult to glue a one-legged doll to a small box.

Added some silver glitter around each opening.

Glued the lid to the bottom.

A Carol  Of The Holly - on the back of each.

I stamped the lids with "NOEL" and some stars.

Tied on a silvery tinsel ribbon.

Displayed them with a book of maps of Paris just in case one gets to go there!

Hey, where did my sisters go?

Don't despair - this Charlotte will be prominently displayed on my tree.

Magali and Vicky loved their ornaments.

I had so much fun making them that I forgot to make extras for family and friends.

YIKES!

Back to work.

See y'all!
