Bought From Olive

blog friend, vintage finds, ironstone, vintage tables
It is so nice to have friends who find things you love as they travel around.

One dear friend is Olive Out.

Recently she had a pile of things for me to go through and decide which to buy.

She knows I am on an ironstone pitcher hunt and found this beauty.

Along with the decorative metal piece.

The book and the syrup tin came from somewhere else, but look at the lovely linen fabric in turquoise and gold.

Using this for fall decor right now.

A rusty wire basket filled with bobbins and spools of several shapes and sizes.

I love a good basket.

She found this old chalkware piece and knew it would be perfect for my bathroom.

Two tables.

Olive had painted them with black chalk paint.

The tall oak one you will see tomorrow transformed.

The Moorish one is currently in front of the fireplace with fall decor on it.

I plan to use the table as a base for the Christmas tree.

The brown desk Olive envisioned painted in a soft blue, but after getting it home and cleaning it, I decided to sell it just as it is.

Great mid-century vibe.

It is waiting for its forever home in Booth W-10, Riverfront Antique Mall, North Augusta, SC.

See y'all!

Friday Finds - A Thrifty Day

Friday finds, thrift stores, vintage finds, ironstone pitchers and platters, vintage books
On a recent Friday I made the rounds of thrift shops and hit a bonanza of smalls.

A stack of Syracuse platters - creamy white with a brown glazed border.

A small Roseville cream pitcher.

A lovely ironstone water pitcher - traces of pink around her sides.

No basin - but who cares?

The pitcher was filled with this mixed bunch of dusty, dirty silk blooms.

Someone evidently donated a boatload of them because every basket and vase and pitcher were crammed with silk flowers.

AND you had to take them with your purchase!

Lidded market basket.

Nice for displays and for shopping.

A pair of Christmas hatboxes.

Mary Jane's Farm double sided comforter.

Green and pink floral patterns.

Pink and white butterfly quilt.

The butterflies are made of candlewick knots.

Pieced by machine but quilted by hand.

Pair of giant brass candle sticks.

Then promptly found a similar pair slightly smaller.

Pair of serving bowls.

The left one is the Cameo pattern (Homer Laughlin).

The one on the right is not marked but goes well with the other.

I adore and will keep this pitcher.

It bears the scars of a long and useful life.

Plus it is pretty.

Two silver plate trophy bowls - only one engraved.

I did not know there was an award given for "Outstanding Adult".

Cute little bronze baby shoe.

A large gold embroidered tablecloth.

Only found four books but the reader and the When We Were Young are keepers.

A huge pile of baskets because at one place the more you bought the cheaper they were.

Another week.

Another thrifty haul.

Notice the hauls are getting smaller and smaller.

At some point I need to show photos of what I am downsizing in my house.

I do post some on Instagram.

Chucks fears he may be next.

See y'all!

Friday Finds

swap meet, junkin trip, vintage finds, Friday finds, red wagon
This week's Friday Finds post features a truckload of items from a swap meet to benefit the animal shelter.

As you can see the back was fully loaded.

Even the front seat was piled high.

Yes, I had to bungee the red wagon to the tailgate.

A cute blue cabinet.

A distressed magazine rack.

A large gold frame.

A painted little ladder.

The two horse head pieces were once part of a stable gate.

Looks fabulous, but it is really for an outside room.

Made of plastic with a pink plush fabric.

A little red wagon.

Should have bought it first to haul my stuff back and forth to the truck.

A snow painting purchased from a guy who commissioned the painter for this scene.

Typesetter drawer in great condition - just needs extreme cleaning.

A bright blue chair.

Two quilts.

A large basket with two pale blue floral pillows.

A plant stand in need of paint.

Two pink ironstone divided plates.

Squint your eyes - they look like faces.

Purple violet vase - very attractive.

Large white ironstone platter.

As if I needed another platter.

A rusty old hand truck.

A small bookcase.

A oak split basket.

Small level.

Large dictionary.

Horse head painting.

Off this weekend to Columbia to meet up with Rush who is visiting.

We have junkin' on our minds.

Watch out Soda City!

See y'all!

Friday Finds

vintage finds, vintage typewriters, estate sale, vintage books, ironstone platters
This week finds me with fond memories of a recent estate sale.

I was busy practicing my new oath of restraint.

I shoulda, coulda bought a whole truckload and now regret I did not.

I am trying to get the hang of this restraint thing.

A metal typing table needing a few screws.

It had a few loose ones.

An old Remington typewriter.

The tag is a key chain from the lady's business.

She was well-known around here in real estate circles.

Both typewriters were in great shape - just needed cleaning.

The older Underwood.

When I was in the sixth grade I fell in love with the Jalna series.

Because there were horses involved.

This is a partial set of the books.

Four of the series  Tales of a Grandfather by Sir Walter Scott.

Each book is a collection of tales from different countries.

A series of books and stories by Bret Harte.

Two Christmas books by Charles Dickens.

A couple of bank bags.

I have since decided to sell off my collection of bank bags.

They can be found in Booth W-10 Riverfront Antique Mall.

Small leather souvenir photo album.

From Mt. Washington, NH.

Old atlases!

Chucks and I both love old atlases!

One large ironstone platter.

Plus a smaller one!

Hope I am not boring you with all these finds posts.

Because we have a ton more to go.

See y'all!

Friday Finds

estate sale, junk shopping, baskets, old stamps, vintage books
Olive of Olive Out met me in Ridge Spring for lunch at Juniper and a casual bit of shopping last Friday.

A few things purchased by me.

Olive resisted all temptation and did not buy anything.

A few gifts from Olive who does not have a booth at the current time and is downsizing to my house.

I don't mind.

A rusty sifter, two pairs of baby shoes in their original boxes, and a box of red plastic sign letters.

At Ridge Antiques I found the cute two handle basket with its original cloth tag (Made In Poland) and a wicker lidded basket with a green insert.

Also at Ridge Antiques a whole basket of industrial stamps.

A great garden gate.

And then this beauty was sitting on the sidewalk outside Stuff (my favorite junk shop).

A primitive red and chrome station bench.

Only needed a bit of wax.

I bought this large ironstone pitcher from Olive.

Going in the new kitchen.

On the way home I stopped by Habitat's 50% off sale.

A cute collection of figurines.

Four oversized red Asian toile pillows.

At an estate sale I found a huge collection of books.

Over fifty of them.

Many hymnals and poetry books.

A collection of vintage children's books.

I could not resist the tiny pair of sandals.

I know the guy who wore them way back in the fifties.

A lovely batik tablecloth and an aluminum pitcher.

Another thrift store.

A tower of baskets.

A gold framed Madonna.

It's a definite keeper.

Right this moment I am in Ladson - just up the road from Charleston, SC - at the Vintage Market Fair.

We have not had these in the area before.

This year there are four within driving distance.

Including a sale one mile from the Riverfront Antique Mall.

Hope to find lots of goodies.

See y'all!
