Bought From Olive

blog friend, vintage finds, ironstone, vintage tables
It is so nice to have friends who find things you love as they travel around.

One dear friend is Olive Out.

Recently she had a pile of things for me to go through and decide which to buy.

She knows I am on an ironstone pitcher hunt and found this beauty.

Along with the decorative metal piece.

The book and the syrup tin came from somewhere else, but look at the lovely linen fabric in turquoise and gold.

Using this for fall decor right now.

A rusty wire basket filled with bobbins and spools of several shapes and sizes.

I love a good basket.

She found this old chalkware piece and knew it would be perfect for my bathroom.

Two tables.

Olive had painted them with black chalk paint.

The tall oak one you will see tomorrow transformed.

The Moorish one is currently in front of the fireplace with fall decor on it.

I plan to use the table as a base for the Christmas tree.

The brown desk Olive envisioned painted in a soft blue, but after getting it home and cleaning it, I decided to sell it just as it is.

Great mid-century vibe.

It is waiting for its forever home in Booth W-10, Riverfront Antique Mall, North Augusta, SC.

See y'all!

Quickies

quick craft project, cloth pumpkinsA slightly different take on the brown and orange theme for autumn.

Directions for the Pleasingly Plump Pumpkins can be found HERE.

Using fabric from a storage sale.

Some torn into ribbons.

Some cut into rectangles.

One change: in places where rubber bands are used, I tied twine around the rubber band for extra strength.

One Pleasingly Plump Pumpkin.

Three Pleasingly Plump Pumpkins.

(Three are easily made in less than an hour.)

A whole basket filled with Pleasingly Plump Pumpkins.

The leaves are from a cheap inexpensive bag of fifty or more.

Thirty Pleasingly Plump Pumpkins in all.

For sale in Booth C-23, Riverfront Antique Mall, North Augusta, South Carolina.

$8!

The ones I made three years ago are still in use on the mantel.

See y'all!

Friday Finds

Vintage finds, thrifting, fabric, ice skates
Just a bit of hunting last week.

We had to ride out Hermine all day Friday, but Saturday was a beautiful day.

Four crates from a dealer at the antique mall.

I am planning a new section in my large booth soon.

As soon as I get around to moving everything.

<grumble, grumble>

Two frames because they were too cheap to pass.

A future Quickies project most likely.

Two more Keepsit Thermos bottles to add to the collection in the booth.

A pine cone heart wreath.

Two dirty baskets.

I got tired of looking through the bin of horse show ribbons and asked if the guy would give me a bundle price for the whole bin.

He did - so I did - buy them.

Think Christmas tree with a horse theme.

Many have colorful buttons.

It turns out there are over one hundred of them!

But only one Halloween.

At the same place there were bins and bins of fabric.

I chose three fall fabrics for ...

You will have to wait and see.

In another bin there was a pair of ladies ice skates.

In the original box.

I taped the box top back together.

Skates from Sears.

Including the original tags, a pair of green wool socks, and blade guards.

On the box end - "Ann's Ice Skates" is printed in marker.

Hey, Ann, I have your ice skates.

A wooden waste can - will be painted.

Old muffin tin.

Ironstone gravy boat.

Due to being extremely quanked*, I refuse to drag out this vanity just take a picture of it.

I have been driving around all week with it back there.

I plan to drag it out to paint this weekend.

Unless I get better offers of fun

While I was digging through the fabric bins, I found this medal.

1914
L.F. Grammes & Sons

With an engraving of the plant.

In honor of
Mrs. L. F. Grammes

Annual Outing
Of Employees
L.F. Grammes
& Sons
Aug. 29, 1914

A sweet little piece of history.

*Quanked
(KWANK’d)
Adjective:
-Overpowered by fatigue.
-To have the strength reduced or exhausted, as by labor or exertion; become fatigued; be sleepy.

Origin uncertain
Used in a sentence:
“After sprunting all weekend, I’m well quanked.”

See y'all!

Blue Cupboard Purposeful Market

JoanMarie Company, Blue Cupboard, new towel line, Etsy shop
Have you met JoanMarie yet?

I became a follower of her blog after seeing her beautiful photography featured on other blogs.

She is a woman with a vision.

Through months of following her blog, I have seen her take an idea and develop it into a business.

The business is Blue Cupboard.

The first product was denim towels.

JoanMarie sent me one to use and abuse.

Well, I have used it plenty.

Love it!

As for the abuse part?

I did dry off Miss Peepers who was drenched by a sudden rain storm.

Not really abuse, I guess.

But Miss Peepers loved it.

The newly-opened  package.

The towel is now softer and a tiny bit wrinkled after numerous washings.

Blue Cupboard is named for her grandmother's blue cupboard.

Each item in the product line proudly sports a frayed embroidered tag.

Note the excellent stitching details.

Also JoanMarie added the loop for hanging.

I was so impressed I purchased the linen pantry towels.

It was like getting a present in the mail.

Everything was beautifully wrapped.

Her tagline is Blue Cupboard Purposeful Market.

JoanMarie pays attention to the tiniest detail.

I chose three towels in pond, ciabatta and basket.

Love the colors.

These linen-blend pantry towels are smaller than the denim towels, but a generous size.

I am using them for hand-drying at the present time.

They would be great for wrapping warm bread or using as place mats.

Find JoanMarie's blog HERE .

JoanMarie Company on Etsy is found HERE .

She has new products coming soon.

I was given a denim towel, but the opinions above are freely given. JoanMarie only asked for personal feedback.

See y'all!

Friday Finds

vintage finds, primitive stands, vintage toolboxesWillie is peeking out the window to see what I dragged home this week.

Not all of today's finds were bought  - some I snatched away from Horror Monster's outdoor living section.

Okay, I did buy this group of primitive plant stands from another dealer who had been using them as shelves hanging in her booth.

I think they will be the perfect solution for covering the black hole of the fireplace for the summer.

I will let you know if it works.

Found these two birdcages.

I dumped all the perches and toys to clean them.

Off to the booth where I hope they will grace a garden.

I will admit to a certain softness in my heart for Italian tole metal flowers - these attached to a wrought iron candle holder.

Needs a little work.

Two more heavy duty wrought iron candle pieces.

I suspect they came from the same house as the tole one.

This just screams Americana!

The splatter ware crock, the red/white tin lithograph pedestal bowl, the tiny wire-baled canning jars.

Who could pass up turquoise pom poms?

Two nice storage jars.

I found just under two yards of this printed linen.

Hoping it will be enough for a chair I have.

I usually stick to green, white or black shutters, but wooden shutters are getting too hard to find to be picky about color.

From Horror Monster comes this group of yawning toolboxes and two plastic Coke crates.

After lining them up for a group photo, I was a bit sad to be getting rid of part of my toolbox collection, but I have thirty a few more.

Some of these are really tackle boxes.

All went off to the booth.

Buy them quickly so I will not bring them back home!

The rusty saw blades once hung on my back fence with pots of annuals wired to them.

A little sanding and a bit of washing ...

A torn cotton ribbon just because ...

And they were off to the booth.

The pink plaid is destined for a bench.

Love the large brass rose bowl though it needs extensive cleaning.

I am off to clean more junk, er, treasures from Horror Monster's outdoor living section.

I need to finish a few paint projects.

It is a never-ending list.

See y'all!
