So when I found these primitive pelt stretchers, I knew I had to have them.
They are hand-carved for several sizes of varmints.
I might as well buy three and make a little money.
Coonskin hat anyone?
Eddie at Eddie-torial Comments wants one with pom poms and glitter.
Sounds festive!
A topless doll trunk - I guess for topless dolls.
A lovely pink roses flannel crib blanket.
A Bates woven spread of corralled horses.
Whoever owned this suitcase had strong opinions and not afraid to put them right out there.
The suitcase and the oh-so pink boots from Olive of Olive Out who has deserted us for Instagram.
I guess I will be forced into seeing what all the fuss is about Instagram.
It appears my living room is now heaven - a large collection of cherubs are hanging out there.
A neat encyclopedia table - already painted in black.
Did you notice the Easter quilt?
Made from one inch squares.
Mary and Joseph and two busts of children.
Update: Joseph is actually St. Jude. Thanks, Eddie!
All of you just said, "AWWWW!"
So precious for a nursery.
This print is a best seller in my booth - no matter the size.
This one is large and in the original frame.
Another stack of windows - I was getting low.
After I have trapped enough small mammals and stretched their little hides, I will offer them for sale on Etsy.
I'm just kidding!
Today is my blog's third birthday.
I want to thank all you faithful readers and supporters with a little something-something.
If you put in the comments section, "I want a piece of Horror Monster." - I will select someone as the winner.
No fancy picker. I'll just stick your name in a hat and have
I will visit your blog to discern scientifically just which section of Horror Monster is right for you.
And I do not care where in the world you live.
Giveaway is open until 12PM Eastern, Wednesday, April 8.
And finally, a tribute to my newest blog friend, Benita. Naked beauty - go see hers HERE - not Benita - her chair!
See y'all!
A very happy Good Friday - time to plant something!

I would have had no idea what the pelt stretchers were! What an interesting find! And now I know where Olive is. Why do people move to instagram?
ReplyDeleteFascinating, The pelt stretchers do not at all look like I imagined them. BY the way, that's St Jude, not St Joseph. Happy blogiversary!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Eddie. I am not good with saints.
DeleteNo prob. Happy to help. Clearing up saint confusion is one of those things I do. :-) If you ever get stuck on anyone, shoot me a pic. I'll be glad to check it out and look it up, if needed.
DeletePS Thanks for the shout out! I'm boggling my mind trying to wrap it around the number of hours it must have taken to make that quilt.
ReplyDeleteI hate to admit it...I want a piece of the Horror Monster even though I am not-so-diligently working my way through my own horror monster...the garage/studio and am on a self-proclaimed supplies diet.... I always love your finds! Congrats on three years! I am coming up on my one year anniversary soon as well.... Time flies when you are blogging/creating/doing what you love!
ReplyDeleteOk, I'll play! I want a piece of Horror Monster!

ReplyDeleteThank you so much Donna! You are adorable and hilarious!! Love the look of the chair -- gorgeous! Wish that I lived closer so that I could come buy it! Oh, and I want a piece of Horror Monster! Who does the trapping and skinning?
ReplyDeleteCongrats on 3 years! I want a piece of Horror monster!!
ReplyDeleteI used to know an old trapper who would catch his own varmints and then stretch and tan the hides. His whole shop smelled so bad when he did it. I can still remember the horrible odor. Ick.
Yes, I absolutely want a piece of Horror Monster! I've sold stuffed squirrels before, but never pelts. Love the stretchers, the stickered-up suitcase, the quilt, and your fabulous garden display. Benita has a lovely blog--
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter and Happy Anniversary Donna! I so do want a piece of Horror Monster!! And thank you for being such a good bloggy friend to me!!

I don't have a blog, either, but I'm a faithful follower and have purchased from your Etsy store--the exit sign which will hang above my back door. Annnyyywaaayyy, I'd like a piece of the Horror Monster, too, and I do know what pelt stretchers are , but haven't seen them that small! I used to paint cute animals and designs on them and sell at craft sales. People always liked them, so unusual I guess. Haven't seen any in years!
ReplyDeleteHappy anniversary! I want a piece of horror monster!

That Eddie is a hoot. It's time for me to pay him a visit. He doesn't offer email as a way to follow him, even though it is too durn easy.
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogiversary!! I most definitely want a piece of Horror Monster. Who wouldn't? Great finds, and love those pink boots!! Your naked chair display looks so awesome in the garden.

DeleteDonna, you always find the BEST stuff !! What a fun giveaway!! "I want a piece of Horror Monster." I do not have a working blog, so I don't know how that will affect things. I do have a blog, but I only use it when we travel to show people at home what we are doing. A few other things have worked their way into it, but I would not consider it a blog like yours. thank you for the fun!
ReplyDelete"I want a piece of Horror Monster." I think. I do right? Ha ha, being new to your blog I'm not sure what I'm signing up for, but I like what I've seen so far, so why not ;)

I never would have known it was a pelt stretcher as never heard of that! I am wondering how you plan to re-purpose it!
ReplyDeleteI love the chair in the garden. Soooo cute! Now is the wood thingy an animal trap? I wasn't sure what you were saying, but hey, looks like a great piece to me. I keep up with Olive on Instagram but it's not my favorite. However, it is a quick write and read and easy to follow when you are bogged down like I am.
ReplyDeleteI want a piece of HORROR MONSTER! A pelt stretcher - where are you going junkin?
ReplyDeleteMiss Donna and Chucks;

So funny! I actually hate squirrels...I work on a college campus and they are everywhere. I had my first encounter with one actually coming into our building and walking around my office not too long ago. I screamed my head off and jumped up on my credenza. I am sure it was a sight to see. So yes, having a piece of Horror Monster would surely be appreciated where I work!
ReplyDelete~Trisha
Mary, Joseph and Cherubs? My, your house is blessed! I know how expensive sneding on the other side of the ocean - forced me to put my shop on hold - so I'll spare you the trouble to put my name in a hat ;)
ReplyDeleteHi! I have not entered into the world of Blogging yet, but when I do, I can only hope that I can make mine as fun and interesting to read as yours! I find myself giggling out loud as I look through your fabulous finds and read your descriptions and captions!! So glad that I have found you! My own Horror Monster is quite large and out of control, but one can NEVER have too many supplies!! Have a great week!

ReplyDeleteCongrats on 3 years of blogging. I don't have a current blog but I'm pretty big into eco-stuff, homesteading, and the 1950's/70's. Most of them time I have more WIPs than I know what to do with. I've come to the conclusion that blogging about them is just too hard for me. So seriously, kudos to you!

ReplyDeleteGreat finds... love the print of the little girl. Thanks for stopping by and joining "Let's Talk Vintage!"
Another great haul, you sure know how to hunt down the best stuff! I had no idea what that thingies was, but it sure is a conversation starter. Thanks Donna for sharing at Vintage Inspiration Party.

ReplyDeleteThose much discussed pelt stretchers! I live on here from time to time apparently my friend. I painted four frames and two enormous flower pots today. All that and Instagram. Wink. OliveOUT
