Hare's A Towel

Hare's a towel. Well,  actually, several guest towels or cloth napkins with gentle hares hopping across them.

I love the black and white - just add some touches of pastels and Easter and Spring is hare, er, here!

I hopped over to The Graphics Fairy to grab me a happy hare.  This is the same hare I have used many times.   Most recently I altered him for the Hare Bench. See him here!

I also grabbed a frame.  So I had large black silhouettes alone and two different-sized frames with smaller hares.

I printed them out on transfer paper.  Hence the backward-ness of the images!

Using my trusty Hobby Lobby coupons I bought two packs of Aunt Martha towels (On separate days - I do not break HL rules - they know who I am and where I live!)

I chose one pack of three with blue stripes and one pack with red stripes.  They do have a pack of multi-colored ones I may use in a future project.

Back when I broke my three-year streak of not entering Walmart, I bought a pack of five flour sack towels.   I must admit I did love these and will have to find an alternate source for them. Let me know if any of you know a place.

I used the large silhouette of the hare on the flour sack towels. I used my ceramic flat top stove as the hard surface needed to iron on the transfers.  I have put a baking sheet on the ironing board as a surface also.

I tied green tulle around the top to create a pretty ruffle and a way to hang them.  These would be great for over-sized napkins or draped over the backs of dining chairs.

I used the framed hares on the striped towels.

Of course, being so picky about small details, I put one design on the blue and the other design on the red.  No mixing hares.

The spring green tulle makes them perfect for spring.

Though at the moment I think most of us are shivering.

Winter has finally arrived in
South Carolina.

Doesn't Mother Nature know it is MARCH!

Check in later in the week when I post my vintage finds.  Not only do I not know what LESS means, but I am now very confused about the meaning of MORE.  MORE may have to change to MOSTEST EVER!

See y'all!

  3. Target has the flour sack towels. I bought all they had at our Target back before Christmas. Don't worry, I didn't manage to get up to your Target. I didn't know HL carried those cool striped towels. I don't have a Hobby Lobby near me, but on the off chance we take a drive, I'll have to remember those. The hares-on-towels project is a winner. Your shoppers should be delighted, and they sure as heck better appreciate all you do to keep them stocked up on the season's most creative items! You are putting the rest of us to shame with all you're getting done!

  4. i boycott walmart, too. also, hob lob is on my list of places NOT to go. they are the christian extremists that do NOT support a women's right to choose her method of birth control and what she can do with her own body. fine towels, btw. i love the graphics fairy, too.

    1. My beef with Walmart is the way they treated women in their work force and how they drive out small businesses in towns and cities across the country. I do not boycott Hobby Lobby because they do not require me to support their beliefs nor do they require their employees. I respect their right to voice an opinion and not have the government tell them what to do. Since I respect your opinion, I am leaving your comment here. This is a post about gentle hares, not a discussion of governmental policies.
