Working out in the yard and clearing out another corner of the attic.
Best find of the week came from Chucks who discovered this beautiful nest when chopping back the hedge.
This enterprising bird used packing tape to start her nest.
I always put out dryer lint, string, yarn and such in the spring, but never thought of packing tape!
Found this New Delhi, India, sweets tin.
Great typography and graphics.
Santa Clauz Sweets!
And that is how it is spelled!
From India to Italy for this large bird figurine.
I have passed it by several weeks in a row.
When the clerk said it was on its last days, I snatched it up.
Surely someone will love it enough to buy it.
One fierce mother bird protecting her baby.
Wonder if she uses packing tape?
Horror Monster has an art gallery section.
I decided to tackle it this week.
I know this Hank guy's work is all over the 1960's - prints and place mats.
However this one is embossed for a relief look in a wood grain tin frame.
I had a gallery wall at one time up the stair well of cabin paintings.
The next three were my favorites, but I am not using them so off to the booth they go,.
The round one is an acrylic called Bayou Country.
The small water color is a cabin in the woods. Not signed or dated.
Rainy Day is a very old engraving in the original frame.
A small cabin in a copse of woods on a hillock.
Can you tell I had imagined a whole novel about this print?
There was plenty more in Horror Monster's art gallery, but Chucks and I have some kind of annoying bug which makes your nose run, your eyes sting, and your body craved both sleep and junk food.
So lazy me took no more photos, became quite enthralled with Cheryl Strayed's movie Wild, and made a trip to BAM to purchase the book and the movie, and is currently engrossed in the book.
So excuse while I eat my Wendy's chicken sandwich, read a book, and go back to sleep!
See y'all!

I haven't seen Wild yet but Brian brought home the DVD a few weeks ago. I want to read the book first! I love stories from my home state.

About fast food: If you have to have it, Wendy's chicken sandwich is the one to have! We were so fast-food starved before we moved. There was an Arby's and a McDonald's (which we don't care for at all) several miles away. Now, we have them all! Wendy's, Burger King, McDonald's, Bojangles, KFC, Hardee's, Subway, Taco Bell, some kind of hot dog stand... We will only waste our time on the first two, but sparingly. KFC is probably a thrice-yearly thing.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better. My son and husband both have some bug too.
ReplyDeleteI thought the book was 10 times better than the movie.
Hope you both feel better soon, Donna! I'm always surprised to see what our birds use in their nests. I have purple martin houses, but the sparrows often build their nests here. I have to pull them out on a regular basis and see all types of interesting things they use, even cigarette filters! Love your vintage prints!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what it is about this week... the cooler temps trying to sneak in... hints of fall trying to sneak in (I'm wearing a flannel shirt today). So I still haven't unpacked and cleaned up my finds from last weekend. I just haven't had the motivation. Speaking of bugs... I went into my attic to get a box to ship an ebay order... and I saw a silverfish. So now I've gotta get rid of all the boxes and dust my whole attic with diatomaceous earth! UGH!
ReplyDeleteI saw Wild and it was really good. Love the watercolor, so pretty. I'm trying to stay out of the thrifts this week!

I have never seen a bird use tape like that. so funny! I love the watercolor cabin that is unsigned.
ReplyDeleteLOL @ packing tape. Birds are definitely resourceful! Love the photos, pictures and frames!!
ReplyDeleteI love to find abandoned bird nests. We have lots of birds and I seldom find their nests. Yes, very unusual what birds use in their nests and how do they carry some of the big things they use. Hope you guys get to feeling better.

It has always amazed me how birds put their nests together. They are real DIYers. Love all the art pieces, especially the cabin engraving. Hope both of you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteDonna, I immediately imagined a Gothic novel in the cabin pic too. Nice finds, and the birds nest is too cute! Thanks for sharing at Five Star Frugal this week. Love, Mimi xx
ReplyDeleteHope you all are feeling better now. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who writes stories about their junk. The birds nest is too sweet, but I am totally in love with that sweets tin. As my uncle would say: "It's Eddie stuff." Bonus points for using both "copse" and "hillock" in a sentence. If you had found a way to work "bodice" in there somehow, you would have won the trifecta!
ReplyDeleteNow a nest with packing tape, that's something you don't see every day! Love the gallery photos! Hope you are feeling better. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
