Eggs Over Easy

These are the easiest eggs to make and are very decorative.  I made this bunch a couple of years ago.

You will need a bag of dollar pastel plastic eggs, tissue paper, Mod Podge,
brown antiquing glaze, and patience.

There is waiting for the eggs to dry, but you can leave them and go off to do something else.

I did not glue the egg halves together because the Mod Podged tissue will do that for you.

First, wad up the tissue paper to wrinkle it.  Tear in uneven pieces - no straight lines.

Use a foam brush and spread the Mod Podge over the egg and stick on the tissue.

I selected a white tissue paper and a polka dotted one.

Use an egg carton to dry the eggs.  I also have the racks from old ovens that I use for drying,

If you are worried about sticking, use waxed paper.

I gave each egg a couple of coats of satin craft varnish after the Mod Podge dried.

To make the wrinkles show up, I made a glaze with brown craft paint.

I used a foam brush to generously coat each egg.  Then wiped it off.  There is a learning curve here.  Too much and too long, you end up with brown eggs.

There is nothing wrong with brown eggs, but it was not the look I was going for!

See the color of the plastic shows through the tissue.

Wrinkly!

Eggs over easy!

See y'all!

  2. LOVE these! Did you use white or colored tissue paper? I know you used polka dot paper, but I see all kinds of colors in the eggs. I might have to give this one a try!

  14. Crazy how cute those are with all their wrinkles. I just love 'em. You are doing a little of everything these days, aren't you? Maybe you need bad weather to keep you inside more often.
