Linda's Downsizing, My Downfall

vintage finds, pottery, Poppytrail California Strawberry, Royal Copley
Linda from A La Carte sends me these tantalizing emails filled with photos of items she is downsizing.

With great prices!

We plan a fun place to meet to have a wonderful lunch and some vintage shopping.

We chose Madison, Georgia for our last Fun Day.

Some I kept and some things I have in my booth.

The plant tables I used until all my summer pots of plants dried up. Then off to to another person to use.

The bookshelf was not part of the stash but used to display all the goodies.

Lovely pottery shoes and a Roseville dog dish among other things.

A pile of small tobacco bags.

Baby shoes

Hammered aluminum

Some of you may remember when insurance policies were  fancy certificates presented to you in metal boxes like this one.

A box of china balls with numbers and letters.

These look great in glass-top canning jars with metal bales.

More pottery - aqua apple dishes, and fiesta tea cups, a set of rooster creamers.

A bread basket.

A close up of the adorable donkey figurines.

Look at the shape of the juice pitcher complete with the six glasses.

Old patterns are good sellers in the booth.

I had the front pattern when I used to sew and made several dresses.

Salt cellars and a martini pitcher.

More creamers.

I had to keep a couple of these.

The darling tweed case was mine from the start.

Planned to paint the rolling pins but someone put dibs on them.

Fruit squeezer is a nice heavy duty one.

Linda knows I have a huge soft spot for baby shoes.

Used these in a large glass vase until they left for another home.

1950's bar set.

Plan to paint the cutting board.

Royal Copley pottery bird bowls.

One pink and one blue.

No one seems to want these.

I think it is neat there is a pair of them.

Maybe they will become a Christmas present.

The green glassware looks rather fetching in the booth with orange pumpkins.

Two tea pots.

Especially love the tomato red Universal one.

Milk glass goblets will be filled with small bottle brush trees.

A set of yellow Luray serving pieces - two platters and a bowl.

And last but not least, a whole set of Poppytrail California Strawberry.

There is only one saucer missing.

In excellent condition.

No scratches - no stains.

Bowls for cereal, serving, soups, etc.

Serving dishes.

Tea pot with creamer and sugar.

Dinner plates, cups and saucers.

Covered tureen.

Gravy boat.

I have this displayed in my booth with groups marked separately with the option to buy the entire set.

Many lookers but no offers yet.

Linda and I unloaded her SUV and loaded my SUV with all the items.

We did such a great job, I still had space to buy more!

You can see those things tomorrow!

Thanks, Linda!

See y'all!

Quickies - Baskets And Crate

quick makeovers, paint projects - baskets and a crate
Another true Quickies post.

I needed some fall baskets at the booth.

Found three likely victims.

Pulled out some partial cans of spray paint.

Voila!

Baskets in cinnamon, black, and dark walnut.

Perfect for displaying autumn smalls.

Sturdy berry crate.

Lost its label.

Half can of white.

Light spray followed by a light sanding.

Ready to work in the booth.

Coming up - a trip to Madison, Georgia, and a meeting with Linda at A La Carte.

Have a lovely Sunday!

See y'all!

Friday Finds

vintage finds, vintage typewriters, estate sale, vintage books, ironstone platters
This week finds me with fond memories of a recent estate sale.

I was busy practicing my new oath of restraint.

I shoulda, coulda bought a whole truckload and now regret I did not.

I am trying to get the hang of this restraint thing.

A metal typing table needing a few screws.

It had a few loose ones.

An old Remington typewriter.

The tag is a key chain from the lady's business.

She was well-known around here in real estate circles.

Both typewriters were in great shape - just needed cleaning.

The older Underwood.

When I was in the sixth grade I fell in love with the Jalna series.

Because there were horses involved.

This is a partial set of the books.

Four of the series  Tales of a Grandfather by Sir Walter Scott.

Each book is a collection of tales from different countries.

A series of books and stories by Bret Harte.

Two Christmas books by Charles Dickens.

A couple of bank bags.

I have since decided to sell off my collection of bank bags.

They can be found in Booth W-10 Riverfront Antique Mall.

Small leather souvenir photo album.

From Mt. Washington, NH.

Old atlases!

Chucks and I both love old atlases!

One large ironstone platter.

Plus a smaller one!

Hope I am not boring you with all these finds posts.

Because we have a ton more to go.

See y'all!

Ridge Spring Sprint

Ridge Spring SC, junkin trip, vintage books, Juniper
One Thursday Chucks and I decided to make a sprint up the road to Ridge Spring for lunch at Juniper. (FB page here)

Of course you have to visit Stuff and Things - the best junk store ever!

A basket of buckets.

A pile of Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew.

A small crate and two buckets.

Hundreds of saving stamps.

S&H, Top Value and others.

Some never used.

Including booklets.

Sold right away.

THEN Florence informs me you can still redeem them online! (HERE)

Had delicious salads at Juniper and headed back home.

Of course I must stop at the thrift store.

Found these two caned seat chairs and the end table.

The chairs were featured in the Sunday Quickies post.

See the makeover HERE.

See y'all!

The Pumpkin Patch

pumpkin patch, Rick's Produce, fall decor, frozen charlottes, baby boo pumpkins
A recent visit to Rick's Produce made me pumpkin patch happy.

Every year people around here make a pilgrimage out Whiskey Road to choose mums, corn stalks, and PUMPKINS!

Not really a pilgrimage - about four miles from my house.

Tiny little orange ones - I passed these by - used them last year.

Baby boos!

Yes, I'll take a bag full of these.

Last year as you may remember I bought a pink mosaic. (HERE)

However while I was waiting for them to be unloaded, my eye was attracted to the BLUE pumpkins.

And the blue-green turban pumpkins.

I still have to decide.

They are selling out quickly.

Pink or blue?

What would you do?

Of course the Charlotte Sisters are quite taken by the creamy white baby boos.

Sister seemed to attract dirt as she picked her pumpkins.

See y'all!

Quickies - Two Chairs and A Money Drawer

quick makeovers, Howard's Restor-A-Finish, Vintage chairs, NCR money drawer
A menage a trois for Sunday's Quickies post.

Two chairs and one money drawer earn makeovers taking only a few minutes.

First this pair of chairs.

Old with caned seats.

In good solid shape.

The finish was okay but the wood was dry.

Out came my trusty can of Howard's Restor-A-Finish in Golden Oak.

I have used this product for decades and swear by it.

No, there is no payment for this endorsement.

This is the after - five minutes later.

Beautiful result.

The two of them basking in the sun.

NCR money drawer from a cash register.

Again okay shape - missing some parts - but the wood is dry.

Soak it in Restor-A-Finish and watch it gleam.

I was careful to not damage the labels.

Label on the back.

The drawer sold the first hour it was in the booth.

The chairs are still available in Booth W-10 Riverfront Antique Mall North Augusta South Carolina.

See y'all!
