Horror Monster VS Slash Room Part Two

The Do-Si-Do of Moving Day

Organizing clutter
It was a Friday.

It was moving day in the slash room.

Horror Monster was not going to get in the way.

I gathered my troops: Chucks, Calvin (my all-around helper), and the two dogs (Willie and Scout - the cats napped the entire day).

The card tables came down from the attic to place stuff while we rearranged the furniture.

Oh, that's where that desk was hiding!

I gave orders left and right.

The dogs barked encouragement to all.

The large pieces would remain in the room as we rotated the furniture around the room.

My idea and I was not going to budge!

My computer desk was carefully placed in the center of the room out of danger - I hoped.

Soft goods and storage boxes were stacked high on the bed.

Great Gopher Guts!

That is my living room.

All that was in a 12 X 14 bedroom and it filled a large living room!?!

I gave a silent prayer I would find a place for all this junk, stuff, & treasure.

When we had filled the living room, we started down the entrance hall.

Chucks and Calvin were doubting my sanity at this point.

BUT they knew not to say a word - just keep on keeping on.

Donna is the boss.

The slash room creeping towards a finished look.

The Arlette bookcase was moved so many times, it became jumbled.

Didn't lose or break a single thing!

The bed shifted to the opposite side of the room.

The file cabinet hanging out by itself.

Willie and Scout running all around and through the furniture - more fun than the dog park.

Hey, a clean spot, a clean spot.

Quick - take a picture.

Chucks and Calvin are believers now.

They see a faint light at the end of the tunnel.

I let them stop for lunch.

For ten minutes.

My wall is NOT this funky shade of blue - the sunlight coming in the windows was very bright.

Do not make fun of my 1950's light switch covers - I love their pure tackiness.

Chucks and Calvin hung the chalkboard which has been living behind the pantry door for two years.

It took one picture hanger, one nail, two eye hooks, and one piece of wire.

Oh, one blank wall.

The computer desk and the file cabinet tucked into their corner.

The Lowery Blue desk right inside the door.

There's Arlette -
She is now the headboard for the bed.

Can you spy  the little nook behind her?

Okay.

At this point, we did a few more things and quit for the day.

The major pieces were in place.

Distressed Donna was not so distressed.

Chucks and Calvin were worn out.

The dogs were still very excited.

The cats were still napping.

I was still trying to figure out how to clean the living room in time to put up the tree.

THE TREE!

YIKES!

Don't worry.

The slash room is completed.

Definition of slash room:  computer/craft/guest room!

Come back for the final installment.

THE REVEAL

Horror Monster VS Slash Room Part One

The Sad, Sorry Truth of the Matter

organizing clutter, craft room reveal, craft supplies
If you drove up into my driveway, I would hide until you gave up and left.

Horror Monster, my beloved craft stash, has somehow utterly overwhelmed two rooms in this house.  I decided to take back my computer/craft/guest room (now known as the slash room) from his slimy, grimy claws and be able to have an open house again.

Just don't come too soon.

I started last year in October and I did organize things into bins ...
and bins ...
and bins...

Oh, my goodness!

There were stacks of boxes ...

and bags ...

and craft supplies.

Oh, my goodness!

There is a desk under there somewhere.

The computer and there to the side, the guest bed.

Yes, my nieces have slept in here.

Oh, my goodness!

The partially finished gallery wall over the bed.

So sad.

Reflecting the sins of over-collecting.

Oh, my goodness!

The corner you see upon entering the room.

My grandmother's cupboard hidden under all of that mess.

Oh, my goodness!

Another pile from a different view.

Just how much can this room hold?

Oh, my goodness!

A view of the wall between the door and the closet.

No, I cannot get in the closet.

Oh, my goodness!

Just how many vintage hangers can there be?

This is the extra door behind the door to the room.

Oh, my goodness!

The bed covered in an old comforter in case a pet sneaks in to nap.

But even they do not try.

Oh, my goodness!

How many baskets do I have?

Many for each season.

Oh, my ___ - well, fill in the blank.

The computer where all the blog magic happens.

Stuck in a corner.

You have to be careful not to gain any weight or you cannot reach the printer.

(You being ME because YOU are not coming in the house, remember?)

Actually my desk is pretty neat in contrast to the rest of the room.

Slightly dusty.

More paper than the average large company.

But other than that ...

Okay, my granny would tell me goodness had nothing to do with this slatternly behavior.  Just quit moaning and groaning about it and get busy.

So that is exactly what I did.

I got busy.

And surprisingly the process was relatively pain-free

And I did not find any vermin or pests or small ponies in there.

Though there were gigantic dust bunnies.  The scary clown kind of dust bunnies.

Stay tuned for Parts Two and Three for the amazing transformation.

I will give you a hint -

I WON!

Take that Horror Monster!

See y'all!

Finds From Junkin' With Olive

Metal boxes and numbers, Ball freezer jars, old bottles, vintage finds, junking
Olive has my number and I have hers.

In other words, we are junk enablers.

When we go shopping, we always need a bigger truck.

These are my finds from Junkin' With Olive.

Mine are smaller and more numerous.

Olive's are big and smaller in number.  We are talking HUGE!

If you find yourself in our path, gird thyself with armor.

Tiny trucks and a blue Cadillac.

Olive found a big, chippy, white one.
 See her truck.

Yep, looks like a trucks with trees post coming.

 A bag of small bottles.

I had a thought, but cannot decide.

If it happens, I will post about it.

Three Ball Mason jars - freshly dug from the earth.

In fact the earth is still on them.

Zinc lids.

 The two smaller ones are

Ball freezer jars.

They have gripper ridges down the sides.

Have you seen freezer jars before?

Yes, it is written right there on the jar.

 Some white iron pot holders.

Start thinking Spring.

 A wicker what?

A wicker wine and cheese basket.

With corkscrew and cheese knife.

Maybe an icy picnic?

 A brown Samsonite attache case.

A blue train case.

I had to take the contents with me from the blue case.

 I was okay with that.

I was looking for a small white pitcher.

More star molds.

A Franciscan plate.

And junk.

The metal boxes with rusty, crusty patina perfection.

The smaller one had contents, but I convinced the guy to let me dump it.

Rusty nails and screws

I know, I know.  Come January I will be looking for those to repair something.

The large one is very heavy.

Built for a large drill and its bits.

It looks a lot like Christmas to me.

 An oval frame.

Gold.

Chippy.

This looks a lot like Christmas, too!

See y'all!
