We are in the midst of an intense heat wave and all painting must be done early - like when the sun rises.
I could not pass up these tattered and torn Raggedy Ann's and Andy's.
They look quite patriotic - I'll add a flag or two.
She was a beauty in her day I am sure.
She needs a lot of love.
Her upholstery is shot and her springs are dragging the floor.
Surgery may be needed.
Check back later for the patient's progress.
I have no idea why "Out, Out" is written on her bottom.
Not sure if sanding to distress her or painting her is the way to go.

I dare anyone to say they can resist fabric.
You will see this distressed blue and beige linen as chair seats.

They can be used in framing, pillows, and tied in bundles to place in a basket.

Ernest has a wicked sense of humor.
I started many, many years ago collecting his work.
Ernest is quite the character if ever you get to talk with him.
He is slowing down and his son is now selling his work.

I have Always Loved Crusty Raggedy Ann's and Andy's. I have a couple of them that I have Loved for so long lurking around here.
I usually buy another one if it tugs at my Heart.
The Material that you found looks so Beautiful. I wish that I had some of it.
Ernest Lee's work looks quite Fascinating.....I must read all about him. Some of his work, must be quite Collectable and worth some $$$.
I for one, cannot wait to see how you fix the Antique Chair and Dresser.

ReplyDeleteThis is going to be my third weekend in a row that I haven't hunted for treasures! I'm actually rather enjoying my leisurely weekends. (Ha - except the last 2 I was peddling junk both Saturdays!)

I'll have to read the article when I have a few minutes. For now, I am trying to read everyone's post from today as I was in the craft room ALL day long and that was after I stayed up until 3 AM working last night! Have a great weekend...:)

I am a listing queen lately, putting at least four items a day in my shop and still not ahead of it. IT IS KILLING ME NOT TO GO OUT AND BUY MORE! Love your Raggedy's. I have a collection of those myself. Those paintings are funky!!

ReplyDeleteI think that used to be Lady Macbeth's dresser. I believe that Shakespeare edited out the scenes where she went around writing on the undersides of the furniture. I love me a good raggedy Raggedy myslef. I think it's a sign of something that was well loved by a child. It has gotten ungodly hot here too, I can't stand it.
