I love Americana all year long. I have one room with vintage red, white and blue things hanging around.
I plan to add these two plaques with Lady Liberty and "My Country, Tis To Thee".
I found two wooden plaques and Mod Podged strips of red and white tissue to them in an abstract design. Two coats of Mod Podge on top sealed them
The backs were painted blue.
I found an image of the hymn "My Country" over at Knick of Time. To get your own image go over to Angie's here. She has great antique and vintage images each week.
Thanks, Angie!
I printed off a couple in their full size. Then I trimmed them to fit the plaques.
The Lady Liberty image was found at The Graphics Fairy.
Again I had to trim the image to fit the plaques.
The images were Mod Podged on and sealed with two coats.
I used Distress Ink to age each one.
Here one is aged and the other is plain.
The plain one was fine, but I just love an old patina!
At first I was planning to attach a wire loop for hanging on the wall, but I found this easel hanging around doing nothing and knew it had a brother somewhere so I placed the plaques on the easels.
This is the country-shaped one.
Here is the flag-shaped one.
I think I like them better on the easels - they can go anywhere there might be a flat surface.
That may be a problem around here!
Have a happy Fourth!
See y'all!

Those turned out great Donna. Your creativity amazes me...:) Do you always have a vision for a project or just get started and see it as you work? I love them both! I'm going over to visit Angie now....:)
