O, Christmas Tree

Have you ever completed a project and it looks so cute and you go to photograph it and it refuses to pose pretty for the camera?

This is one of those projects.  I swear this little silver tree is adorable.  I must have taken at least 20 photos of it in different light, in different rooms, inside/outside, and even over to my neighbor's yard.

Just could not get it to show off for me.

So here goes.  Stop yawning.

Bought a pack of silver balls from Dollar Tree.

Used my Black Magic Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels and Krylon gold glitter paint.

Found a muffin tin in my stash.  (I was planning to use it as a collector's box for Christmas stuff, but too late for that now!)

 One ball per muffin cup.

Perfect size - I only wanted to spritz the tops of the balls.

Ho-hum, this is not exciting, is it?

Here the balls are drying.  We are now watching paint dry - it's official - this is a boring post!

The tree was purchased on a thrift crawl with my niece Leia a while back.

It was absolutely flat.  Like steamroller flat.

I fluffed and I fluffed until the house blew down... Uh,  excuse me, I lost my train of thought.  I fluffed the tree.

Here's a little excitement - torn cotton calico ribbons tied to each ball.

You can actually see a little of the gold on the balls.

The little Beswick mouse is not impressed by gilded silver balls tied with calico ribbons.

Several torn cotton calico ribbons tied together in a bow for the top of the tree.

I wired each ball to the tree and used a tree skirt of the same calico.

I do not know where I went wrong.  I think I should have added a hot pink something somewhere to give the tree more depth.  The blue and the silver  blend together in a photograph.

Please remember that the tree is really quite adorable.

In person.

O, Christmas tree.  O-o-o-o-o-h, Christmas tree. (Say this to yourself in a slow, sad voice.)

I took it to the antique mall and several people looked but did not buy.  O-o-o-o-o-h, Christmas tree, I do not want to drag you home after the holidays.

I just now realized that I forgot to put the battery-operated lights on the tree.  Maybe the tree felt I had slighted him and refused to take a good picture.

I am walking away in shame dragging some silver tinsel stuck to the bottom of my slipper and a swipe of gold glitter across my face.  It has been a battle of the Christmas projects here the last few weeks.  Now it is time to put away all the craft supplies and get down to business with the DECORATIONS!  But first I must observe Thanksgiving, especially since all I have to do is fix a dessert!

See y'all!

  1. Hi Donna, thank you for taking the time to comment on my blog, it means so much!

I think this little tree is too cute! I totally understand what you mean about items refusing to "pose pretty," that is a perfect description of it! Great job and thank you for sharing.

  3. No, I don't think it was boring. I went over it twice to make sure I saw the whole thing. It's true that the tree is hard to see but I'll bet in person it's really cute. I've done those things, too, where you know it's a great craft but it doesn't photograph well. I like it though and I really really like the fabric. I thought it was little curls that you had put on the tree initially. Anyway, have a nice Thanksgiving. A friend. Linda

Good luck, I hope it starts behaving itself for you :)
