Friday Finds

Horror Monster outdoor items, rust, decluttering
Good patina.

Bad patina.

This week finds me corralling items from Horror Monster's Outdoor Living section so the house could be pressure washed.

Some items went straight to trash.

No kidding!

Others were piled in the backyard to sort through to see which items make the cut to return to the patio.

My pots of moss and succulents will definitely be returning.

How to keep your moss happy?

Either strain off the liquid from plain yogurt or feed it buttermilk.

 Keeper!

Glider and primitive table are keepers.

They may need makeovers.

The items on the front porch which is really just a glorified stoop were piled out in the yard.

Again some went straight to trash.

Some may be sold.

I have more than one of these blue equipment boxes so one may go.

Or may not.

The giant hose reel where I hang my wreaths is staying.

I have downsized by half my collection of watering cans.

So these will stay.

Need cleaning, but not going anywhere.

The rusty feeder is the last of an assortment of them.

Hide my garden tools inside.

Always envisioned a long mudroom with several of the feeders with cushions on top against the wall.

Sit, remove shoes, drop them inside.

Michael has been outside for about fifteen years.

He is now distressed enough to come inside.

Once Michael was a garish red, tan and black painted chalkware.

Once he had arms.

Now he has character.

As for the bad patina on the house?

All gone.

Thanks to Jackie who found me Michael, the pressure washer.

He's an angel!

See y'all!

Quickies

quick makeovers, mannequins, Americana Decor paint
Remember my miniature mannequin collection I was downsizing?

Well, I decided a few of them needed transforming before selling.

The tall ones were actually pin cushions though I never had the heart to stick pins in them.

Like shabby chic voodoo.

Watch out, Rachel!

The small ones with sea grass twine had served their purpose of holding bracelets.

Used leftover Vintage (Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint).

The small ones had plenty of texture.

But after coating all with satin varnish, the tall ones were nondescript.

Added multiple stamps in black - both front and back.

Added Distress Ink in Pewter for a silver patina.

Slightly French.

Slightly glamorous.

All available in Booth C-23, Riverfront Antique Mall, North Augusta, South Carolina.

See y'all!

Friday Finds

flea market finds, vintage style, palmetto tree
Chucks and I took a short trip to the flea market last Saturday.

Short for two reasons.

One: we picked up a nail in a tire and had to drive 45 miles back home.

Two: the oppressive heat saps all my junkin' juice right out my pores.

Fell in lust with this round copper pot because of the verdigris.

You can tell it once had a base, but it would be great to string it by wire from the holes left in it.

You know you may find a bargain when -

When tables wobble but they don't fall down.

Small blue table in need of a makeover.

There is not ONE tight joint anywhere.

Major surgery may be necessary.

Stay tuned.

When the temps rise above 100F and no one bakes cookies.

A whole bag of copper cookie cutters.

When wire planters need new cocomats.

When someone paints who shouldn't.

(You have to admit the kitty is too cute to leave behind. Imagine a whole wall of bad art.)

When a craft is no longer popular.

I used to candlewick in the early 1980's.

Another kitty I could not pass by.

When a seller hates rust.

A double bike basket.

A rusty green tackle box.

When an old ladder is just an old, beat-up ladder.

This one has great patina and a couple of very clever make-do's.

When everyone yells, "That's the coolest thing at the flea market today!"

We love our state flag in South Carolina.

Everyone has palmetto tree/crescent moon clothing, shoes, decor, dishes, totes, ties, and on and on.

I spied this huge tree beside a truck.

I was surprised no one had purchased it.

So I did.

Then everyone wanted one.

Made by the artist from parts of her barn.

I plan to enjoy it for awhile and then sell it.

Because quite simply it IS the Coolest thing!!!

Next week I will try not to shop except in the attic and shed.

Both spaces are packed with treasures.

Of course if the perfect estate sale arises, I will be hoofing it down the road.

Be sure to get out of my way.

See y'all!

Friday Finds

vintage finds, decluttering, mannequins, jars
I am still shopping in the deep innards of Horror Monster, my beloved stash.

Currently cleaning out blanket chests and trunks.

Packed all this away one Christmas and never unpacked it.

Off to the booth.

Yes, whole collections are leaving for new homes.

Like my miniature mannequin collection.

This large, lovely piece of pottery was a gift complete with a dried flower arrangement.

Going away.

I'll share more Horror Monster finds later, but I did do a tiny bit of shopping.

At the thrift store I found a bag of 32 pulls - some with their screws.

Also the large handle.

A black box currently in the stages of a makeover.

Jars!

Love the sprayer jar.

A tall buttery yellow bifold door.

Would look great in a corner.

Away to Booth W-10.

A screen door guard.

I sell a lot of these.

I have done a bit more online shopping.

Could not resist these large glass jars from Decor Steals last week.

Did not have any idea how huge they were!

Sent with the original dirt!

Notice my dining room table is still free of clutter.

In fact I may have to dust it!

See y'all!
