Blue Cupboard Purposeful Market

Have you met JoanMarie yet?

I became a follower of her blog after seeing her beautiful photography featured on other blogs.

 


She is a woman with a vision. 

Through months of following her blog, I have seen her take an idea and develop it into a business.

The business is Blue Cupboard.

The first product was denim towels.

JoanMarie sent me one to use and abuse.

Well, I have used it plenty.

Love it!

As for the abuse part?

I did dry off Miss Peepers who was drenched by a sudden rain storm.

Not really abuse, I guess.

 

But Miss Peepers loved it.

The newly-opened  package.

The towel is now softer and a tiny bit wrinkled after numerous washings.

Blue Cupboard is named for her grandmother's blue cupboard.

Each item in the product line proudly sports a frayed embroidered tag.





Note the excellent stitching details.

Also JoanMarie added the loop for hanging.

I was so impressed I purchased the linen pantry towels.

It was like getting a present in the mail.

Everything was beautifully wrapped.

Her tagline is Blue Cupboard Purposeful Market.

JoanMarie pays attention to the tiniest detail.

I chose three towels in pond, ciabatta and basket.

Love the colors.

These linen-blend pantry towels are smaller than the denim towels, but a generous size.





I am using them for hand-drying at the present time.

They would be great for wrapping warm bread or using as place mats.

Quickies

Nothing quicker than a basket makeover.

Mostly it is just adding a bit of personality to an average Jane basket.

Take one oak split basket - obviously handmade, but not signed.

Spray it white leaving a bit of the oak showing through.

Mod Podge some hydrangea images (courtesy of  The Graphics Fairy) to the lid.

Okay, so they were too bright and clean for distressed me.

Sanded with a fine sanding sponge.

Tied some twine through a large vintage button.

Used E-6000 to glue onto the rim.

 The final result.

Ready to store a bunch of supplies.

Friday Finds

Yes, I fell off the wagon and shopped from 6AM to 11AM last Saturday. 

I could have filled the truck several times over - bargains galore out there.

However coming home to a clean living room and dining room is keeping me on the straight and narrow - for now!

See there is still space left in the back of the truck.

Though to be totally honest, I filled the front passenger seat.

The first sale had a clever ad in the paper. It started at daylight. If you arrived before sunrise, you were to bring a flashlight and a smile.  I waited until light and met a delightful guy and his family.

I bought the rocker and the bamboo cage from him among other things.

The washstand (currently being updated) and the tin-framed portrait were purchased at an estate sale of a dealer friend who is downsizing.

More from the estate sale.

Put all in the booth and some pieces have sold.

Wish I had kept the huge gray metal tray.

Two Simply Shabby Chic Kids quilts and shams.

A distressed framed board - makeover soon.

A lovely old picnic basket with perfect dark patina.



The woven basket you will see transformed on Sunday's Quickies post.

Saw this sweet shoe form in the thrift shop and could not leave it behind. 

The pink lace dress on the dress form were estate sale buys.  I kept them together for selling in the booth.

The cage on its stand purchased from Mr. Daylight - already in the booth.

The dress form is dark pink so the dress is perfect for it.

A church mission sale netted a big box of vintage books from the 1920's to 1950's. 

A green-checked German suitcase with travel labels and a green/brown plaid interior.

Love the leather strap! 

This mid-century dresser and the signs below were purchased from Mr. Daylight. 

He even packed my truck for me.

Talk about service!

I do not usually express opinions about news events so I will only say this.

Friday Finds Me At The Beach

Hello, is it me you're looking for?

If so, I am back.

From vacation.

We followed Tropical Storm Bonnie to Surfside Beach on the South Carolina coast for a few days of relaxation.

Chucks and I both were pure-T tuckered after the Magnolia Ridge Antiques & Art Gathering.

There's Myrtle Beach several miles down the beach with the skyscraping towers.

We usually stay in a condo or house, but for these few days, we chose a hotel.

Surprisingly not a lot of vacationers around.    

Clouds, but still nice on the beach.

I love walking the beach.

(Random people who never suspected they were photo-bombing.)

Perfect waves this day for floating on my back.

My favorite view.

Morning.

Evening.

One day of a beautiful azure sky.

I was bound and determined to catch a photo of dawn. 

On the last day I got up early and was disappointed this was all I saw.

Then the clouds lifted and behold the East coast sunrise!

Each morning a pair of mallards came to swim in the pool.

We returned home last week with horrible summer colds.

So bad I totally missed out on the PeachTree 23 Long Yard Sale.

The first time I did not go in eleven years.

No one will believe this, but I have not shopped or bought anything in FOUR weeks!

An all-time record for me.

Lord only knows how many rusty and crusty orphans are out there waiting for me.

My biggest find lately has been my dining room table - all projects gone.

(Yes, I see those lurking in the background!)

I also found my living room after unloading all the items left over from the farm sale.There are a few left in the booths.

One more lazy day and I will be back at work.

I promise.
