To market, to market to buy a fat pig
-with a cute little market bag in pink and green.
As I was purging my junk one day, I spied several runaway cans of spray paint under the cabinet.
At first I thought I was dreaming.
BUT, NO!
There was a can of Sweet Pea Pink.
I ran around and gathered three baskets, the market bag, and a silverplate tray.
I was so excited about the Sweet Pea Pink paint, I forgot to take before pics.
This was just a generic straw bag with a bright green cloth liner.
After painting it pink, I found this cute fabric scrap.
Wonky colors in the next two photos - have no idea why.
I glued a border of the fabric around the bag and put a button on it.
I decided after the fact that I liked the reverse side of the fabric more than the front. I glued a tag to the right side so the wrong side showed on the backside of the tag.
Got that?
Front of the tag tied to a giant tassel of the fabric torn into strips.
You knew I would tear something up!
A few fake daisies later and here is my new market bag.
And off to the market I go.
But not to buy a fat pig.
I'll stick to tomatoes.
See y'all!

I know how much you love that sweet pea pink so you must have been so excited when you found it. That pink basket looks so pretty with that green lining, and all the embellishments. You'll be the belle of the market!
ReplyDeleteHi Donna ... love the pink with the green lining and the torn fabric matches perfectly. Really cute, but not for rusty, junky stuff. Enjoy going to the market. Bring me some tomatoes ... the deer ate all of mine yesterday.

Lol, I would've love to have seen you're face when you realized what colour you had in front of you. That must've made your week. I love your 'new' straw bag. It never even would've crossed my mind to paint it but it looks great!
ReplyDeleteI know you said they stopped carrying sweet pea - but I found it on Amazon!
ReplyDeleteLoving the pink color on the basket and the green makes it pop! I wish I was going to the market with you, cause we'd have fun, but then you might get mad at me cause I'd want to buy everything! I found sweet pea on amazon too, maybe a I should order some!
