Tiny Dancers Tagging Along

tattered tags, distressed painting, tags, altered art, dancers
I would love to say as we sat without power for three whole days, I was industrious and finished many a project.

However I must be honest.

I mostly just hibernated with a book near the daylight from the front window.

Now that the power has returned, I have nary an excuse for not finishing a load of tags which have been sitting around.

I now introduce the tiny dancers.

I layered on a thick layer of my gloopy paint in greige on shipping tags and went from there.

The images are from The Graphics Fairy.

Printed nine to a page on heavy cream coverstock.

On some of them I punched fancy corners.

I used my damask stamp, a floral stamp, and a Moroccan door stamp as backgrounds.

Vintage lace, French seam binding, beads and buttons were used to embellish.

Some were edged with pink or white pleated tulle on the bottom edge.

Each set of tags had words stamped on the back.

On this set I painted a gold background.

I used a gray ink for the background stamps.

This image was used on earlier tags, but this set is slightly different.

The ties are charcoal - not navy.

Large vintage buttons were added.

 Lace added to the backs.

This photo is true to the color of the ribbon ties - gray.

The two little girls dressed as angels are not dancers, but I threw them in just because I love the image.

Added a white feather to each.

A cherub and some lace for the back.

Heavy charcoal distressing around the edges of these and the ones above.

"Angels" stamped on.

Look closely and you can see the thick texture the gloopy paint leaves on the tags.

These tattered tags will be available in my Etsy shop.

We are getting some painting weather so I hope to be outside this weekend.

Next week the Polar Vortex returns.

An elderly farmer told me yesterday he and The Farmer's Almanac predict a spring snow.

A SPRING SNOW!?!

In the last three weeks we have had snow, sleet, the worst ice storm in history, an earthquake, aftershocks, and a heat wave.

Please Mother Nature, be kind.

See y'all!

  1. You make the most darling tags! Did you use hem tape for the charcoal ties? Just lovely.

    1. The charcoal ribbons are actually vintage French seam binding, but I have used hem tape on other sets.

  3. I will say it every time...You make the best tags! I love the feather ones and the tulle. Did you sew or glue the tulle? (please say glued)

    1. Better and easier than sewing or gluing - narrow strips of double sided tape.

  4. Your tags are very pretty, gotta love the Graphics Fairy, I need to do more from her site! Yes, ice pellets are supposed to return next weekend, and I have somewhere important to be, good grief. I hope your Etsy store is doing better than mine, crickets over there... Take care, Donna ;)

  5. Wow, such lovely tags, you are so creative, I'm not good that way, so I appreciate your cleverness to make them vintage looking too. Your tags are always so special and unique. Thanks for sharing my friend. Have a nice weekend.

  6. And I just spent half an hour researching the name of that dancer you used for the first tag. I knew I was supposed to know her! I love all of your tags!

  7. And today in Lauren and Johnson Counties we had a tornado. We got the affects or either one was mighty close to us. The home beside my brother's was completely destroyed. Another old wooden building was picked up and put in a nearby pond. Whew!
BTW, love the tags. They are darling.
