Quickie Chandy Transformation

Chandelier transformation, makeover, quickieJust one quickie for this morning.

Transforming a dated chandelier into a table centerpiece.

Time spent:  forty minutes waiting for paint to dry and ten minutes to assemble.

Started with a dated '70's brown and faux copper chandelier.

Stripped out the wiring.

Well, Chucks actually did that for me.

Two coats of  Rust-Oleum Navajo White.

(Looks like a carnival ride.)

I purchased my paint screens at Habitat for a dollar.

I did learn not all candles are the same size, and only one size fit the cup.

Dollar General, but not Dollar Tree.

Added some fake greenery.

I like the way it looks here.

Placed in the middle of a table with real greenery.

Light those candles.

(Though I would switch to unscented candles around food.)

Except the guy who sold it to me wrapped each glass shade carefully in a zillion sheets of paper.

So I felt I should use them.

Even though he would never know.

It is now available in Booth C-23, Riverfront Antique Mall in North Augusta, South Carolina.

See y'all!

Friday Finds

thrift shopping, vintage finds, Egyptian Lacquer crate
After a delicious Thanksgiving dinner, Olivia came home with us, and on Friday we hit the thrifts for treasures for us, Christmas gifts for others, and things for customers to buy.

Cannot reveal the gifts, but here are a few I plan to sell  ...

Maybe the batter bowl.

I find these very practical.

Notice in the photo the small one holding pieces of cloth used for backgrounds.

A vintage souvenir from Florida marked ARROW on the back.

I am sure this cherub plaque will look lovely distressed white.

Don't you?

Not marked but appears to be McCoy or one of those vintage potteries.

Has the 39 in a circle price on the bottom.

This will be going on Etsy.

Remember if you see something you like, I will reserve a listing for you.

Six heart tarts or molds.

I am a wimp when it comes to using these in a craft project.

So I will take them to the booth.

And I do not want to know what happens to them!

I might be the only person who likes the look of embossed aluminum items.

A set of four floral coasters.

A flock of duck coasters.

I think the coasters are headed to Etsy.

My find for the day is this Egyptian Lacquer crate.

Great patina.

Wonderful graphics.

It might stay for a short time in case I need it for decorating.

Unless you might like it!

See y'all!

Quickies

quick makeover projects
Yes, Quickies are back!

I have been working hard to complete unfinished projects left and right.

Also up and down and side to side and every which way.

Remember my  found-that-way Jack O'Lantern buckets?

Well, they have outlived their purpose.

It took two coats to cover all that orange with a nice burgundy.

Grabbed this cute image of foxes sledding on a log from The Graphics Fairy.

Mod Podged.

Varnished.

And added the two foxy buckets  to a Christmas vignette in the booth.

Gold candle sconces.

Now Navajo White.

A very old luggage rack with a missing strap.

The remaining one dry-rotted.

I loved the color - a pinkish tan with a crackled finish.

Just needed cleaning.

Stapled on new green and tan jute webbing.

Buckets?  Done!

Sconces?  Done!

Luggage rack?  Done!

Back to work.

See y'all!

Thanksgiving At The Lake

family event, Thanksgiving camping
A relaxing Thanksgiving at the lake with family.

The first look at lake.

My brother brings his trailer down to the campground for us to celebrate Thanksgiving.

Olivia with her morning coffee.

A cool, but tolerable day - started in the forties and rose into the upper sixties.

Grandma Jo and Olivia.

Chucks and I in our official turkey outfits.

Salmon smoking on the grill.

(My brother is a heck of a good cook!)

A plate of macaroni, mixed veggies, and the salmon.

We like to walk the beach to find animal tracks.

A small deer with a larger one.

Ferris, me, and Olivia.

Dancing around the old fire pit.

One last walk down the beach and it is back to civilization.

And thrift shops!

See y'all!
