My Week's Weak Finds

vintage finds, vintage music, linens
It was a weak week for finds.

There are several big sales this weekend so I'm saving my money for those.

A round wall basket - I do not have one in this size.

A small ironstone pitcher - matches the shape of my other three - I now have four in different sizes.

Does this mean I cannot sell them because they have become a collection?

We'll see.

This pair of pitchers (made in Italy) were in the display case.

When I saw the price, I told the clerk they were too expensive for me and purchased the small pitcher and the basket.

While I was unlocking the car, the clerk ran out and said he would reduce the price by many dollars.

I was in dirty clothes from working at the booths, my hair was plastered to my head from the rain, and my jeans were torn in the knees.

I guess he felt sorry for me.

When I declined, he insisted and dropped the price lower.

I had to say yes and gave him the money for the pitchers.

Please do not tell me they are something special.

I will feel so guilty.

I am sure he thought he was helping some poor, little, old lady.

The pitcher couple look quite angry with each other.

Bought a large bin filled with sheet music.

Too much to photograph.

You will be seeing it in projects.

For the next decade or two.

Also, dear customers, I plan to sell a bunch.

A music textbook, three plastic frames, two blue/red tea towels, and a lovely tablecloth.

Bordered with hand crochet.

The place setting is embroidered in each corner.

Plan to list this on Etsy.

An orange juice glass, a bottle, and a measuring jigger.

The tiny souvenir plate of Mount Rushmore is Johnson Bros.  Will list it on Etsy.

The treasure of the week is the hand painted bird plaque.

A china shield with a wire on the back for hanging.

In great shape.

Signed by the artist.

Will list on Etsy.

So there is the whole bunch.

You will agree it was a weak week.

I hope the sales this weekend will not disappoint.

I am getting excited by a couple of them.

Howdy, Halloween!

Halloween decor in my booth
I do not go all out for Halloween in my booth.

Just touches here and there.

A little fall here.

A little fall there.

A bucket.

A basket.

Something orange.

Something black.

I did make a few black baskets last year.

Just used the leftovers.

Little billet-doux with a Halloween theme.

Have I billet-douxed you yet?

I'll have to peruse my blog list to see.

They are both fun to say and to make.

Little chenille stem cats and pumpkins.

With a distressed orange tag of course!

How to make these HERE!

Frankie has hung around my booth for so long, he has become my mascot.

Orange and black bottle brush trees with a chalkboard kitty.

How about a Halloween picnic at midnight?

Some painted platters with ghostly images.

Then there are the creepy dolls.

I think she has seen a ghost.

This one reminds me of the creepy housekeeper (Mrs. Danvers) in Rebecca.

"Last night I dreamt I went to Manderley again..."

At least I have not dismembered these dolls.

Yet.

Miss Kathryn - Prim And Gray

primitive cabinet, antique mall booth
Meet Miss Kathryn.

So gray.

So primitive.

So very me.

She belonged to another dealer's grandmother.

Wasn't her style.

She was regretfully selling her.

So I paid really real money for the simple pleasure of owning this beauty.

I will not sell her.

I am using Miss Kathryn in the small booth.

She is very practical.

I had to pull every single thing out of my booth to squeeze her in.

Then I had to get all this back into the booth.

Miss Kathryn has that farm fresh look.

I can spy white and turquoise under the gray.

Deliciously crackled.

This is her top cabinet.

And this is her bottom cabinet.

No paint on the inside.

Just tons of space.

I may line her with fabric and add a coat of wax at some future date.

As for now Miss Kathryn stands proudly with her load of treasures.

I am moving away from turquoise and pink for the season.

Leaning more towards gray and white.

With touches of silver and gold.

I do need to find some of the LED timer lights for the inside of the cabinets.

If you know where to find super-cheap ones let me know.

It looks like I need to mark some items down for clearance.

I despise dragging them back and forth.

Some items have made their way to the thrift store.

I see a peek of turquoise that needs to leave.

One last look at Miss Kathryn from the aisle.

She looks right at home.

As you can see most of the pink items are out on my "front porch" area.

Thanks, Jerrell, for allowing me to buy Miss Kathryn and for letting me name her after your grandmother.

I love her.
