Bargains Bought

Vintage finds, ironstone bowls, yardscaping, yard art, suitcases
There were a few bargains to be bought this past weekend.

I was looking for things for my new yardscape and for the booth.

I have been using this table a lot in photos, but I love its style.

It was very cheap at an estate sale because someone had broken one of the decorative sides.

Back to the bought bargains.

Three white ironstone planters.

A basket of faded, dirty silk flowers.

I really wanted the basket.

I thought the bowls were a graduated set, but the two smaller ones are too close in size to fit together.

And now that I look at them, they look more like serving bowls.

Maybe I should not have told the lady I was only looking for something for my garden.

Well, she did give me a bundle deal.

And you know how much I love to bundle deals!

The tackle box is vintage and gray and will be kept.

The sunshine tray, the heart on a spring, and the ball carrier are not old, but might look good with other things planned for the yardscape.

The ball carriers are always useful to carry around your garden tools or to line with cocomat and plant.

The bucket and the pear print will be going to the booth.

The bucket may return.

Or I will find another one.

I wanted one larger.

Two hardshell Samsonite suitcases in deplorable condition, but great for a project.

No, I did not buy much.

Why?

My truck is still packed with things needing to be painted!

We did have sunny, warm days here, but I had to waste them gathering all our stuff for the accountant to do our taxes.

No, I was not a happy camper!

Though I did get to watch every episode of True Detective straight through and LOVED it.

Wait, do I detect another bargain bought hiding back there?

Why, yes, I do!

You have to see what I found!

Until next time -

See y'all!

Springing For Pottery

ironstine pitchers, creamers, milk glass, styling vignettes, blogging
Before meeting all you wonderful people here in Bloglandia, I never really paid much attention to pottery.

But now I have a lust for ironstone that has me springing for pottery wherever I go.

Last year I could not find a pitcher I liked.

This year I cannot turn down one if my life depended on it.

Just look at the two small pitchers and the creamer.

Who could pass them by?

Not me!

And this craze has extended to milk glass.

And vignettes.

And styled photography.

How far have I fallen?

The milk glass vase with a pinkish glow.

The milk glass jam pot with blue transfer.

A one dollar bird.

Now I have begun buying the soft green creamers.

How I envy you who can restrain yourself and buy only one color!

Three chicks - cheap chic chicks.

Chucks wants to know what this strange fascination I have now.

You know what I mean.

Certain corners of every room have a lovely display.

Other corners hide in shame.

Can I branch out?

Is it possible to have  a WHOLE room displayed with care and pottery and dollar store finds?

Well, with two dogs and two cats and a husband who forgets we do have trashcans, that ain't going to happen.

Except in Bloglandia.

Off I go to spring for some more pottery.

See y'all!

Rust and Radiant Orchid

yard art, rust, wrought iron railings, bucket, tool caddies
Time to raid Horror Monster's outdoor living section for more rust and turn some of it Radiant Orchid.

Pantone's color of the year.

(No comment on their choice.)

I bought a small sample pot of it

I tried it on several things and decided it looked the best on rusty stuff.

Go figure.

Regular readers know I am in the process of purging my yardscape of the stuff I usually use in favor of a new look.

Rusty railings used to be trellises.

Those white bars?

Yes, real jailhouse bars.

Where did I get them?

I am not divulging that information.

The statute of limitations has not run out.

A rusty iron strongbox, wire racks (seen HERE), classroom green trashcan (remember those?), and another bucket.

Great grate for standing upright in the garden or lying flat for thyme to creep through.

Or as a pot trivet.

The tool caddies from the estate sale - one is slightly larger than this one.

I painted one Radiant Orchid and the other a mustard.

Mr. Frog sits patiently waiting to be severely wire-brushed to rid him of that hideous green paint.

Wasn't that Pantone's color last year?

(Snicker, Snicker, Smirk!)

Yes, another cooler.

This one is smaller than the Poloron (read here) and more rusty and crusty.

Think filled with lilies.

A group photo of some of the yardscape graduates.

All cleaned, waxed, some painted, and all ready to go to the booth.

The guy who is flipping the house next door saw me gathering all the rusty, crusty things together and offered me the use of his dumpster.

I have decided he must live in some alternate universe.

Or plain crazy!

These rusty, crusty things radiant in orchid are just in time for Spring.

Bunny Rabbit approved!

See y'all!
