The Numbered Cabinet

It's all in the numbers for me.  I love them stamped, painted, stenciled, or really real.  Numbers on any thing.  I have a soft spot for "9", but no special reason.  It's not like I have nine toes or anything.

I needed another cabinet to fit behind the craft room door with my hidden bookcase. SEE HERE!  I found one while out thrifting at the right price.  I had planned to hold out for one with a door, but I liked the size of this one.

It was just a plain Jane piece - brown stained pine with a bit of curve to the sides.

Very sturdy - no tightening or gluing required.

Just slap some paint on it and it would be done.

After all it WAS going to be hiding behind the door.

I sanded it lightly to take the gloss off.

Used the same Bermuda Sand Valspar as the hidden bookcase.

I added a medium gray of unknown origins.  (I do know I had better get this paint matched before I use it all.  I am beginning to love that gray!)

It should be finished at this point.

But no-o-o-o-o!

I had to go another step.

I took out my trusty roll of hardware cloth and my tin snips, measured out a piece to fit across the back of the shelves, and stapled it on.  Now no craft supplies could spill out the back.

It should be finished at this point.

But no-o-o-o-o!

I had to go another step.

I took out my trusty number stamps and a black ink pad.

I thought up some random numbers - two-digit ones.

I stamped along the edges of the shelves as if those numbers actually meant something though they don't.

It should be finished at this point.

And yes, it is.

Gosh darn, I love those numbers!

Now it is time to hang it up and fill it with supplies.

I am not going to show that part yet.

I have my reasons.

There may be a reveal on this blog showing an entire room in my house.

Now that I have typed this, I have to do it.

That is blog karma, isn't it?

I did try out different things from around the house to see what looks the best with the numbered  cabinet.

I found galvanized boxes and aluminum funnels are perfect for the gray.

A lot of stuff can be placed on the top shelf.

Some lavender (fake!) with Mason jars.

I found funnels make great holders for those pesky rolls of paper ribbon which seem to escape the bounds of gravity and end up smashed on the floor.

Okay, all that stuff will not be placed on the numbered cabinet when it goes to work in the craft/computer/guest room.

But it will be doing its best to keep the craft supplies corralled.

Maybe I will take those numbers and play the lottery.  I always buy two tickets when the jackpot is over $300 million.  I figure if we win, there would be enough to pay off all the family members and disappear!  I'm just kidding.  I think.

See y'all!
