Friday Finds

estate sales, vintage finds
Chucks and I went to two estate sales last weekend and came home with some great items.

Both sales were conducted by new-to-me estate agents, but I signed up to get email alerts because I was very impressed with the way the items were arranged, the professional way the sales were conducted, and the reasonable prices.

The first sale was for a event planning company downsizing their inventory.

There were multiples of everything.

A good mix of old and new.

Round green plant hangers.

Iron lantern hangers.

A primitive blue bench.

A beat up small box.

A black iron candle sconce - very medieval.

A very large frame.

Two worn suitcases.

A piece of oak from a piece of furniture.

At the next sale I found this small chest of drawers in the garage.

The drawers are numbered 6,7,8, and 9.

I could not find what was 1,2,3,4,and 5!

While loading the truck I found the rusty metal grate.

Two benches.

A large basket.

A gold frame.

An old work light - all metal.

What was in the large basket?

A quilt heart.

An oil can.

A berry basket of cookie cutters.

A small basket.

The number 2 (3 on the other side) blew across the Kroger parking lot - not part of the sale.

A tin of clothes pins.

A check box of drill bits.

An assortment of old jars with various hardware.

A distressed metal drawer filled with more hardware.

The first sale was run by Carolina Estate of Mine - what a delightful name.

The second sale was run by Smart Move - Thanks, Leasa and Marilyn!

Willie and Scout have been obsessed with hunting down the baby snakes in the liriope.

I take my snakes seriously and do not appreciate the two pups killing them.

I do not wish to be overrun by mice!

Chucks and I have managed to save a couple of them from certain death by dog.

However it was too late for this little cutie.

Scout was found chewing on his stiff little corpse.

I placed him in the nest on the windowsill.

Funeral arrangements to be announced at a later date.

See y'all!

Breezy Blue Primitive

Table make over, primitive, patina, prairie style, Krylon Cool Ocean Breeze
Breezy and blue is not ordinarily words you would associate with primitive.

However when offered the chance to use the leftover can of Krylon Cool Ocean Breeze on my oh-so primitive table, the spraying began.

(No, I do NOT receive any compensation for the brands I use.)

I found this primitive beauty when shopping with Olive Out in Statham, Georgia. (read post here)

I loved her curvy legs.

She sat in the corner of the living room while I pondered her fate.

Her wood was very dry.

Turquoise paint had been splashed over her.

WAIT!!!

WAIT JUST A MINUTE!!!

She had turquoise paint on her.

Where is that can of Cool Ocean Breeze?

Sanded and scrubbed and ready to ...

Throw her legs in the air like she ...

Well, you know.

Spray paint over raw, dry wood soaks in.

I used a very light spray since I wanted a time-worn finish.

Disregard my patio.

I promise it will be clean in a few weeks.

I liked her here, but ...

I loved her after polishing with Howard's Dark Oak wax.

Yep, just the look she deserves.

Graceful beauty with a lovely patina.

Miss Breezy Blue Primitive will be going on the junk caravan to the Magnolia Ridge Antiques & Art Gathering.

There will be a whole family of breezy blue primitives there.

Don't forget to mark your calendars for the annual Magnolia Ridge Antiques & Art Gathering!

See y'all!

Habitat Habit

Finds, Habitat Restore
I have a habit and I have it bad.

The habit of twice weekly trips to the Habitat Restore.

If you are lucky to have one near you, you know what I mean.

Like this transom window from an old house.

Someone painted it brown and yellow which is fine with me.

Now available in Booth W-10.

The red ladder would be perfect for hanging swimsuits to dry this summer.

An old rake - I need the head.

The two troughs.

Not the radiator water can I spy under the boxwood.  I was busy turning everything over before rain came.

A coffee can filled with faucets.

A lovely basket.

A doll - I saw a project idea in the latest Jeanne D'Arc Living.

Not really cricket boxes, but close enough.

When the Etsy shop comes back from vacation, they will be listed.

I am way behind photographing my merchandise.

A blogger at a party last week had a great way to upcycle these wide framed cardboard prints.

I thought I saved the post, but I cannot find it.

My take is slightly different.

UPDATE: It was Julie at Renaissance Mermaid
who had the Anthro-inspired Upcycled Vintage Art using the wide frames.

Thanks, Ann-Marie!

A bunch of tools.

Some quite ancient.

A log bird feeder.

I see possibilities.

The best things about spring?

Daylight Savings Time.

Warm, sunny weather.

Walking out to new blooms each morning.

My Chinese Fringe Flower (loropetalum) is in full bloom.

See y'all!
