I Vote Grey!

Remember this ballot box I found with the angel stencil?

It was sweet, but I had no idea why there would be an angel on an old ballot box.



Wouldn't everyone vote for an angel?

Unfortunately I voted to remove the angel and the "I heart angels" from the ballot box.

The wood was old and had a nice patina, but I voted for paint.

I voted for grey!  Yes, in this case I think it should be spelled with an "e".

I painted it with Relic and rubbed it with Mission Oak stain.

Added an over-dyed, torn, calico ribbon.

Added a Distressed Donna tag.

I think the ballot box is a winner.

Hands down!


I have been away for several days organizing things.

Another Try At Features

Last night I published a post with the features from the final Make It Monday party.

It took five hours!

I have no idea what evil forces were working yesterday, but they refused to keep the text and photos from flying all over the page.

I finally resorted to writing part of it in code which made the text and photos appear, but the links did not link and the comments section did not allow comments.

So here I go again, and I sincerely hope it works this time.

Fabulous Features Found At The Finale

Last week on Make It Monday #17, Tamara and I said farewell.

We have thoroughly enjoyed partying with each of you.  We have met new bloggers along the way and enjoyed old friends who visited each week.




Instead of the usual three or four features, I have taken the liberty to choose eight which caught my eye.  Well, a lot more than eight caught my eye, but in life there has to be limits. Unfortunately!

Friday Finds

Just a few finds due to the holidays.

Of course I was attracted to this white pottery bowl because of the brown spotting.

From the mark it was produced around 1900.

It is in my "office" at the booth for now, but may come back home.

Two chairs - a bundle deal.

I was lucky enough to be in the thrift shop when two truckloads of modern furniture was coming in and they needed the old stuff to go out.

I obliged!








The good thing about having the office/storage/studio area is I buy stuff, take it to the mall, clean and tag it, and put it on the floor.

The bad thing is the terrible pics.

Sorry!

She had an attitude I could not resist.

She will be altered at a future date.

She will be losing body parts.

A huge bag of bulbs.

A cloudy, indistinct idea forming about what to do with them.

I am sure it will be a light bulb moment.

Now is a great time to find vintage Christmas around here.

You would not be able to lose this bright orange tackle box, but I bought it for the bobbers.

The only thing to come into the house was this Baby Jesus who had to be rescued from being tossed.

Thriftasaurus #117

Pursuit Of Peace

I am on a persistent pursuit of peace for 2015.

Each year I choose a word to set the tone for the next twelve months.

Last year was JOY and I feel I accomplished my goal.

This year I have chosen PEACE.

Peace in my personal life.

And to nurture peace in other lives.




I always associate ringing bells as the symbol for the New Year.








The last stanza of this old hymn:

Glorious then the dawning
With Thy presence near,
Beauteous wake the morning,
Peace bells chiming clear;

Long lost voices singing -
O, the sweet refrain!
E'en heav'n's bells all ringing
Peace on earth again.

If we all try, maybe this will be the year for PEACE!
